This is our III edition specially created for our participation in the 5 Lamps Arts festival, our named theme for this event is going to be “Salad bowl” that roots from a theory based off an intercultural society integrating different cultures in a way that embraces and keeps in touch with the roots of each individual background. SoapBox is drawing inspiration from this theory and adding an artistic adaptation of the Salad bowl theory to our event. So with this we will be presenting an event conducted by two hosts which are going to be guiding our audience through a variety of extraordinary and unique spoken word performances full of passion. Soapbox on the night will include 1hr and 30 min of a mix of local artists presenting their art drawn directly from the underground artistic collectives of Ireland, who are going to be speaking and performing based on ethnicity, art expressions, equality, integration and more. All these topics and ideas are going to be shaped in an aesthetic, raw and authentic way.

I am an Irish Q***r artist , painter , writer and educator . My art is what drives my soul to the connection of myself and others , my work is all about letting yourself in and others , sharing connection through the bravery of vulnerability , discovery and self journey . My art is my vulnerability , I want people to know that vulnerability is beautiful character and it’s scary but there’s a beauty in this fear .. and I create art through painting and music to let everyone know that there is always someone there ! I paint to let myself and others know your individuality is beautiful .

will also have a little in house Gallery during the event. To have a creative browse and shared conversation to accompany the environment of the event.

My name is Maho, I’m I am a Journalist, entrepreneur and a Writer from Venezuela, currently based in Ireland since 10 years ago. I am passionate about writing and researching topics related to Black Women, especially everything linked to Black People from Latin America. I am a social activist interested in equality, LGBTQ+, racism, and xenophobia. I’m a writer and guest Editor for the magazine Spoken Black Girl in New York, I am constantly expressing my point of view through my writing, which is generally about social topics that are not so comfortable to talk about on a daily basis. My principal mission as a writer is to create that question mark; about topics that people normally think they have clear and understood. I want people to recognize that not everything is black and white but instead there’s a lot of nuances.
