The super talented Maeve Barry has been shortlisted in the jewellery category of Irish Country Magazines Irish Made awards 2023. This is the last chance to cast a vote - https://t.ly/nhwig

Eve Ray is a contemporary Irish jewellery brand designed and made in Dublin by Maeve Barry. Using mirrored perspex and clay, Eve Ray pieces are inspired by art, Ireland and childhood memories. Maeve’s first collection was inspired by and named after the work of Spanish artist, Joan Miró, incorporating abstract shapes and bold primary colours to create lightweight statement earrings. Eve Ray designs also looks at traditional Irish symbols like the Claddagh and the Shamrock to create contemporary designs that are wearable and unique.

Having studied Graphic Design and with a passion for collecting costume and vintage jewellery, Maeve always wanted to bring her creative side and her love of fashion together to develop a brand that celebrates Maximalist, expressive dressing. Where customers are not afraid of bold colours or statement accessories. FOLLOW for a new collection dropping very soon! Available to buy at https://blondethestore.com/

"My Bloody Sunday" is a three part Podcast series. In the winter of 2021/22 deirdre_brennan_photography set about recording a number of interviews with the relatives of the victims of Bloody Sunday whilst taking their portraits.

The interviews include the relatives, those who tended the injured, photographers and journalists. They recount the events of that fateful day 51 years ago. Over the last few months I have pieced them into a three podcast series.

Episode 1 focuses on the day of the march. A day when 13 unarmed civil rights demonstrators were shot dead by members of the British Parachute Regiment in Derry.

Episode 2 looks at the aftermath, the wakes and the funerals.

Episode 3 the search for justice

The responses from the family members are the most satisfying and relieving part of the completion of the works. When you are dealing with such sensitive issues surrounding the loss of their loved ones it is always a worry about how it will be received. To hear feedback that it was "outstanding", a "powerful and emotional telling of their stories in a novel way" and that "it is a valuable archival document in accurately telling the tragedy of Bloody Sunday to future generations" makes both Deirdre and myself very proud.

The families are hoping for it to have a permanent home in Derry in the future. Thank you to those who shared their stories. I hope we have faithfully and honestly pieced them together. Thank you to Deirdre for having faith in me to arrange this most sensitive material. You may listen via Spotify or Apple Podcasts

Why why why?

We want Dublin to be mentioned in the same breathe as Berlin, Detroit, Chicago, New York, LA, Bristol, London and Tokyo when it comes to vibrant music scenes.

We can’t do much about the lack of space for clubbing in the city but we can give young up and coming producers a helping hand.

If you missed our previous post (still time to enter before Dec23rd) We’re launching new Music production courses.

These are one to one courses in our audio lab. There you can get in depth, genre specific knowledge from our tutors.

Check the link in our bio for further details. It could be the perfect gift for the in your life.

Last orders for postage of gift cards is Dec 18th. Can be collected after that date.

We’re having a raffle to celebrate the launch of our music production courses. Three lucky people have the chance to win a session of Ableton live tuition. This is a 1 to 1 session so you will have the complete attention of your tutor. The lesson can be tailored to whatever genre or style of music you choose. Whether you’re a complete novice at producing music in Ableton Live or looking for some tips and tricks to speed up to your workflow this could be just what you need.

The lesson will be 1.5 hours long and will take place in our Dame St studios in Dublin. Draw to take place on the 23rd of December. An early Christmas present for three lucky people. Prizes to be redeemed January/February of 2023. Good luck

Some snippets of one of my electro acoustic/video installation pieces that was presented on culture night.

Kursk

This piece tries to capture the horror of the tragic events of Aug 12 2000. An accident on a Russian nuclear submarine strands a crew of sailors at the bottom of the Barents Sea. The piece attempts to recreate the emotion, the claustrophobic conditions and the helplessness of their final moments.

A week later. Sorry thought this had posted here too.

Just wanted to thank all the people who stopped by on Culture Night. It was a huge success. Over the course of the evening we had over 400 people through our doors. Apologies if we didn't get to spend as much time chatting with you as we would have liked. Really hope you enjoyed the night as much as we did.

Thanks to Áine, Deirdre, Eileen, Louise and Maeve for their hard work in making the night such a success. Thanks also to Mark for his choice musical selections

A sneak peak of a series of prints I’ve been working on.

The collection is an attempt to capture the colour and vibrancy of the scene in Dublin and reimagine it through fragments resampled to create something new.

There are twelve prints in the collection. If you want a closer look stop into the studio on Saturday for our Showcase event 12-19hrs
