Established in 1978, Taylor Galleries represents contemporary and 20th century Irish artists working in traditional and new media.

Taylor Galleries is a gallery based in Dublin that shows a selection of contemporary and 20th century Irish painting, sculpture, print and works on paper. Throughout the year Taylor Galleries mounts a series of solo exhibitions by gallery artists and two large group shows, one in August and one over the Christmas period. The gallery’s exhibition space is situated over two floors of a Georgian hous

e which dates from 1759. Please note that the gallery DOES NOT accept unsolicited submissions from artists. Taylor Galleries was founded by John Taylor in 1978 and a number of gallery artists were inherited from Leo Smith’s Dawson Gallery. The Dawson Gallery was established by Smith in 1944 at 4 Dawson Street, Dublin 2 following his departure from the Victor Waddington Gallery. John Taylor, who had worked with Smith since 1964, continued to run the Dawson Gallery until it closed in 1978, opening Taylor Galleries in its place in the same year at 6 Dawson Street. In 1990 Taylor Galleries relocated to smaller premises at 34 Kildare Street before moving up the road to the current space at 16 Kildare Street in 1996. Today Taylor Galleries is managed by John and his brother Patrick Taylor.

Join artist Sian Costello and writer and editor Penny McCormack as they discuss It’s All About You — Costello’s current exhibition exploring self-image, performance, artifice and the history of figurative painting. Curated by Eamonn Maxwell 𝔈𝔞𝔪𝔬𝔫𝔫 𝔐𝔞𝔵𝔴𝔢𝔩𝔩.

The conversation will delve into Costello’s creative process, her use of staged photography and camera obscura techniques, representations of women, and the often-unseen labour of the model. They’ll also discuss Costello’s recent recognition, including her win of the K+M Evans Painting Prize at the 2026 RHA Annual Exhibition.

A wonderful recognition of Bourke’s practice, for which we are very grateful to the editors and team at Irish Arts Review. We are especially grateful to John O’Sullivan John P. O'Sullivan for his thoughtful consideration of Bourke’s work in this issue.

We look forward to presenting Brian’s work at Taylor Galleries this September.

Join us at Taylor Galleries for an intimate conversation between artist Siobhán McDonald and Christina Kennedy, Head of Collections at IMMA.

Together, they will explore McDonald’s exhibition SONANCE, discussing the themes, influences, and creative processes behind the work currently on view.

The conversation begins at 6.30pm and will run for approximately one hour. The exhibition will be open to all until 9pm.

At Taylor Galleries, Makiko Nakamura presents a series of richly layered abstract paintings, where colour, texture and gesture combine to create immersive, atmospheric works that reveal new details with every viewing.

Upstairs in TAYLOR TWO, Niamh Porter showcases exquisitely painted still lifes, transforming familiar objects through extraordinary attention to light, form and surface.

Delighted to announce that Taylor Galleries now represents the work of Nick Miller.

One of Ireland’s most respected contemporary artists, Miller’s practice moves fluidly between portrait, landscape and still life—always grounded in direct, lived encounter. Working across painting, drawing, film and sculpture, his work carries a rare intensity, attentive to the “charge” of life as it unfolds.

Born in London in 1962, Nick Miller moved to Ireland in 1984 and has been based in Co. Sligo since the early 1990s. He is a member of Aosdána and recipient of the inaugural Hennessy Portrait Award (2014, National Gallery of Ireland). His work has been exhibited widely, including solo presentations at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the RHA, the New York Studio School, and the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris, and is held in major public and institutional collections.

We are very pleased to be working with him and to share more of his practice in the coming months.
