We are delighted to be the guests of the fabulous Mr Sunshine Swing, Tom Cole Junior, in Songs That Shaped The World on Thursday, July 9th, at the National Concert Hall.

This celebration of the Golden Age of Swing, Big Band, and timeless classics is going to be amazing, and Tom’s special guest is the wonderful Flo McSweeney. We will all be accompanied by the hugely talented Shane O’Connor Quintet — Shane O’Connor (MD/Piano), Derek O’Connor (Sax), Linley Hamilton (Trumpet), Neville Lloyd (Double Bass), and Gary O’Connor (Drums).

It promises to be a memorable night filled with great music, energy, and atmosphere. Fans of Tom’s Sunday night show, Sunshine Swing, on Sunshine 106.8 are in for a treat.

Tickets are available now at https://www.nch.ie/all-events-listing/songs-that-shaped-the-world-jul26/ - early booking is strongly advised.

We’d love to see you there 🎶

What a stunning night of music at Dublin Youth Choir’s Jubilate! concert on Saturday night. With over 200 young people on stage, it was such a gorgeous evening of choral music, beautifully sung and so joyfully expressed. Huge congratulations to the unbelievable powerhouse and DYC founder (and our own music director) and her team for putting together such an exquisite production 👏🏻

We were delighted to sing with our lovely friend June Rodgers on a medley by Carole King. June is a big fan of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, which chronicles Carole’s early life, career and rise to stardom. As you can hear, the audience loved it 💜

Our amazing soprano Lauren Davis dazzled the audience with her version of Wuthering Heights at our concert last weekend. Lauren’s baby is due in July, and we hope her baby grows up loving this video. After all, there are not too many people out there who can say that their mothers sang like Kate Bush on stage while they were carrying them 😜

This song, Senzenina, has become a firm favourite of the choir. It’s a powerful South African Xhosa anti-apartheid folk song, often sung at funerals, demonstrations, and churches. Our amazing music director introduced it to us and it brought the house down at our concert on Friday, with the “caller” role sung so powerfully by our wonderful soprano Jennifer Grundulis. I don’t think this video even does justice to the fabulousness of this song as it was heard in St Bernadette’s last Friday, but we hope you enjoy it 🎶

What an incredible night we had at our Movies and Musicals concert on Friday, put on to raise funds for St Bernadette’s Parish. It was such a gorgeous, joyful and fun night.

The only sad note was that our lovely friend Frances Black fell and injured herself five minutes before the show started and had to go to A & E. Thankfully she is on the mend and we know we will get to sing with her again on another occasion 💜

Thank you to our dear friend and very special guest June Rodgers, who was amazing and stole everyone’s heart on the night. Her gorgeous voice delighted everyone, and she’s such a warm and gracious person too.

Our music ensemble on the night was outstanding, and aside from being exceptional musicians, Maria Geheran, Gerald Peregrine and Des Lacey are such warm and patient people, who went above and beyond for us and were such a pleasure to work with 🎶

Huge thanks to our sponsors Massey Bros., who are always generous and giving and are such kind, caring and special people. Thank you Susan, Aileen, Peter, Robert and Jessica for all your help and support on the night. We are forever in your debt.

Thank you Fr Brian, Mary and the team at St Bernadette’s. You took care of us so well and made us feel so welcome and appreciated. It was such a pleasure doing this concert for you.

A thousand thanks to our wonderful music director and conductor Lynsey Callaghan. Lynsey, aside from being one of the most talented and innovative people we’ve ever met, your kindness, unwavering energy, joyous fun and magical creativity makes our Friday nights so special 💕

Ceol Aoine, I don’t know how I got so lucky to have gathered such amazing people together in one choir. You are so committed, talented, generous, kind and such great fun, and you put your whole hearts, time and effort into entertaining our audiences, whether that’s at a high-profile gig in the 3Arena or a small charity gathering. Thank you for being the choir of my dreams 💕🎶

And finally, our wonderful audience. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for coming along to support us and bring so warm, encouraging and kind. We can’t wait to see you all again soon.

Andrea xx
