Music Network welcomes the announcement of A New Phase of Government-Philanthropic Partnership for Music Generation.

As parent company, Music Network extends its warm congratulations to Music Generation on this thrilling new development. We’re immensely proud of Music Generation’s achievements since establishing it in 2010, and of the inspirational work of the Music Education Partnerships throughout the country, which today engage 130,000 children and young people annually in learning and making music.

This new phase of Government-Philanthropic funding is hugely welcomed and will ensure that many more young people facing social exclusion get to experience the benefits of creating music. Our mission for the past 40 years has been to provide access to high quality live music for everyone in Ireland, and we’ve witnessed countless times the transformative effect that music can bring to peoples’ lives.

We are grateful to the Government, U2 and The Ireland Funds for their steadfast commitment to unlocking the potential of young people across Ireland through the powerful medium of music.

🌿✨ It’s been a couple of weeks since the final notes faded and the sun set on Orpheus in the Garden, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this extraordinary project possible. ✨🌿

👏Huge congratulations to the wonderful young performers and teachers from Mother of Divine Grace Primary School, Finglas and Virgin Mary Boys National School, Ballymun, whose enthusiasm, dedication and hard work helped bring Orpheus to life.

Over the past few months, the project brought together primary school children, professional artists and musicians in a unique creative collaboration exploring biodiversity, climate and our connection to the natural world, led by renowned composer and musical director Dee Isaacs. The children took part in a series of educational and creative workshops before performing alongside the professional artists for two magical twilight performances in the stunning surrounds of the National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin at the end of May.

Part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, this ambitious production was presented in partnership with the National Botanic Gardens, Dublin City Council and the Office of Public Works, with support from The Arts Council, The Heritage Council, Movement for Good, The Ireland Funds, Grant Thornton and PTSB.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on this journey and shared in the magic of Orpheus in the Garden. 🌱🎶

To celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg 2026, we're delighted to share our 2025 project in partnership with St. Michael's House Musical Me! a short film celebrating the creativity of students from St Michael’s House Special National School in Ballymun and the transformative power of music.

Inspired by the spirit of Cruinniú na nÓg, professional musicians Malachy Robinson (double bass/cello), Dermot Dunne (accordion/handpan), and inclusive dance artist Jess Rowell Dance worked directly with students and staff at St Michaels House over a number of weeks.

Together, they created a joyful space for exploration, creativity, and connection.

This project was developed with support from CreativeIrl and Dublin City Arts Office for Cruinniú na nÓg 2025, with thanks to Ballymun Library

Applications are now open for the Music Network and Roscommon Arts Office Musician-in-Residence Programme at King House, Boyle.

On this occasion, we welcome applications solely from professional musicians who are resident in Ireland, who are autistic/ people with autism and who have a strong track record in music performance.

The residency runs for 2 months (October–November 2026) and includes an €8,000 bursary.

The successful applicant will be supported to:

👉Develop their creative practice
👉Create new work and/or artistic collaborations
👉 Engage with the community, working alongside an experienced facilitator to deliver inclusive music activities
👉Showcase their work in a live concert at the end of the residency

💫The focus of this project is to bring the joy of playing music and group music-making back into the lives of Limerick residents ages 60+. Life gets busy and things we enjoy can get left behind, so we want to give you the opportunity to pick up an instrument you used to play and start playing again with the help of renowned musicians Derek Hickey (accordion), Tara Breen (fiddle) and Tommy Hayes (Bodhrán).
