Music Capital Scheme Information Session - Award 4 The Music Networ...

As we prepare to launch into our autumn season, we have an opportunity to look back over the wonderful things that we’ve done so far this very special year, as 2026 marks 40 years of Music Network. 🎵✨

🎻 Music Network was established in 1986 as Ireland’s national music touring and development organisation. Since then, we’ve presented 357 extensive tours, featuring over 1165 musicians. We’re delighted to welcome some of those musicians back on tour in new collaborations, to help us mark this important milestone.

🪗So far this year we’ve presented 5 tours, including 47 concerts across 3 countries, and have presented 5 new commissions.

💫 The Unconquerable Soul by Rhona Clarke, written for piano trio, string orchestra and choir, was a collaboration between Music Network and Music Generation that engaged youth string ensembles and amateur choirs in both Drogheda and Tralee. Orpheus in the Garden by Dee Isaacs, a promenade opera that took place in the National Botanic Gardens, brought together children from two primary schools in Finglas and Ballymun, Dublin to collaborate with professional artists and musicians to explore the biodiversity crisis.

Alongside our touring programme we’ve presented a number of community programmes, including two installments of The Lullaby Residency and the Wicklow Teaching Residency.

The Music Network National Musical Instrument Collection was established to address the lack of access, faced by emerging professional classical musicians, to a suitable standard instrument. This year we've added 7 world class string instruments to the Collection.

Discover the craft behind the music this National Heritage Week. 🎻✨

Join us in Cork on Thursday 20 August for a rare opportunity to step inside the workshop of two master instrument makers and meet the luthiers behind the craft.

Presented by Ian Knepper Violins and Macdara Ó Faoláin Luthier at Ian’s Cork City studio, this open studio event offers a unique opportunity to meet two highly skilled craftspeople and discover the traditional techniques involved in making and repairing stringed instruments.

The studio will be open between 12 - 3pm and visitors are welcome to pop in during these times.

📣 We're thrilled to announce our 2026 Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Musicians-in-Residence! 🎵

This year’s scheme provides two residencies, one for an established musician which has been awarded to composer and multi-instrumentalist Cormac Curran and an additional residency to support the work of an emerging musician, composer/musician/songwriter artist Julia Mahon.

The residencies will run from August to December, with public workshops and performances taking place at dlr LexIcon.

Congratulations to Cormac and Julia, we look forward to seeing what they create.
