INTRODUCING...

ARTISTIC VOICES

In our new series of exclusive interviews, we will explore the stories behind the artwork we love. Delving deeper into life as an artist, this series will touch on the inspirations, creative process, and artistic journey of the artists we display.

We begin with Hilary Evans, a talented abstract artist who reveals the meditative nature of her artistic practice. She explains the catharsis that art brings her, shedding light on the reasons behind her characteristic use of palette knives and expressive layering.

FINAL VIEWING WEEK
A Splash of Colour Exhibition .ie

Working from a studio on the coastline of Wicklow, Sloan’s depictions of the natural world are imbued with illuminating colours and the charming characteristics of local scenery. Her process involves unifying technology and the organic process of printmaking to create captivating minimalist artworks.

Sloan graduated from the National College of Art and Design and the Royal College of Art, London. By 2005 she had won the Design for All awards by IDI. Stephanie Sloan’s artistic journey…

Stephanie Sloan’s artistic experimentation continues with ‘Floral Form I’, 2023. Sloan skilfully employs the timeless allure of cobalt blue, influenced by her continued fascination with Henri Émile Benoît Matisse.

The artwork acts as a bold portrayal of nature’s most elegant motif, the flower. Sloan’s powerful ex*****on of petal veins explores the vibrant life force which runs throughout the natural world. The subtle dimensional aspect of the petals draws attention to the individual parts which form the whole of the natural world.

Stephanie Sloan’s artistic journey…

‘Sun Seats’, 2022, captures Stephanie Sloan’s progression towards more complex layering techniques in her screen-printing practise. Within this piece she depicts local Sandycove scenery, illuminating man-made and natural ‘sun seats’. Her bold amber and intricate textural layering enable her to depict sites of unification at awe-inspiring coastal sunsets with the detail they warrant.
