We are saddened to hear of the passing of filmmaker, writer and artist Marjane Satrapi, whose bold, distinctive voice transformed contemporary cinema and graphic storytelling. She will be remembered for her acclaimed works including Persepolis, Chicken With Plums (Poulet Aux Prunes) and Radioactive, films marked by their emotional depth, visual imagination and fearless humanity.

We were honoured to welcome Marjane Satrapi to the Festival with Chicken with Plums (Poulet Aux Prunes) in 2012 and again in 2020 with Radioactive, where audiences had the opportunity to experience her singular vision and celebrate her remarkable contribution to international cinema.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends and collaborators at this time.

This year, we collaborated with our Official Partner Renault, to capture that pre-red carpet feeling, exploring the moments before premiering a new film and showcasing it to audiences for the very first time.

Next in the series: French director Alice Winocour, premiering her latest film Couture starring Angelina Jolie.

We caught up with her en route to the red carpet where we talked about the themes of her new film and the excitement of sharing her work with audiences for the very first time.

Filmed inside our all-electric fleet of Official Festival Cars, the series shows how our partnership with Renault helps the festival deliver premium hospitality while staying true to our its sustainability commitments.
