🎮 A small but important milestone for Mac Uaid Enterprises, we have officially released our first game.

Liffey Run is now available on Google Play.

Liffey Run was deliberately designed to be a small, annoying and somewhat fun arcade game. You run, dodge obstacles, collect coins, inevitably crash into something and then convince yourself that the next attempt will definitely go better.

Probably.

While it is a very different project from Emerald Blood, developing Liffey Run gave us the opportunity to take a game through the complete release process, including development in Unreal Engine, Android optimisation, testing across different physical devices, Google Play deployment and advertising integration.

It is therefore a particularly important little milestone for us, Liffey Run is the first commercially released game from Mac Uaid Enterprises Limited.

🎮 We shipped a game.

Liffey Run is now officially available on Google Play.

We designed Liffey Run to be exactly what it is, a small, annoying and somewhat fun game you can jump into for a few minutes, try to beat your score, crash into something, get annoyed and immediately try again. 😂

It is absolutely not Emerald Blood, nor was it ever intended to be.

For us, this little game also had another purpose. It gave us the opportunity to take a project through the full process, Unreal Engine development, Android optimisation, physical device testing, Google Play testing, advertising integration and finally a commercial release.

That makes Liffey Run the first commercially released game from Mac Uaid Enterprises Limited.

Dodge obstacles, collect coins, chase your high score and try not to launch yourself into a car.

🎂💚 WE ARE ONE!

Today marks exactly One Year of Mac Uaid Enterprises.

On 20 August 2025, we officially started our journey as an Irish indie game studio.

One year later...

5 versions of Ailbhe

8 major versions of Chapter One

2 major Unreal Engine migrations

UE 5.4 → 5.6 → 5.8

And an unbelievable amount learned along the way. 🎮🇮🇪

During our first year, Emerald Blood: Songs of the Ancients moved into active development.

We developed Léargas, continued shaping The Calling at Tara, built our animation and cinematic workflows, established professional Perforce source control within our AWS infrastructure, joined IMIRT, participated in the LEO Kildare and MERITS Pre Tech Accelerator, and began working more closely with experts around the history and archaeology of Tara.

We have also started looking towards what comes next, including voice performance, original music, expanding the development team and preparing for Kickstarter.

And yes, some of those Kickstarter ideas have already started becoming real. 👀

🔥 The Emerald Blood Founding Flame, created with ForeverLit, is one of the first physical reward ideas we have been developing.

There have been breakthroughs.

There have been rebuilds.

There have been things that worked perfectly.

And there have been inventory systems that technically worked while attaching absurdly large objects to Ailbhe. 😂

That is game development.

Today, though, we are incredibly proud to be able to say:

Mac Uaid Enterprises is One Year Old.

Thank you to everyone who has followed Emerald Blood, shared our work, offered advice, taken meetings, supported us or simply watched this project grow.

Another small pre alpha milestone for Emerald Blood 🎮☘️

The inventory and equipment system is now starting to work, allowing Ailbhe to equip items directly from her inventory.

There are, however, still a few things to iron out...
The lamp needs to become an actual torch, and the small field recorder definitely should not look like Ailbhe is carrying an entire radio broadcast unit around Tara 😂

That is pre alpha development though. Get the functionality working first, then replace placeholders, refine animations and polish the experience.

Functionality first, sensible equipment sizes later.

Founding Flame Lamp arrived 💚

We got to unbox the first prototype of our Founding Flame Lamp, one of the limited edition physical rewards we are offering for the Emerald Blood: The Calling at Tara Kickstarter.

This was our genuine first time seeing the finished lamp in person, and the green lighting just feels absolutely perfect for Emerald Blood.

Well, this was a pretty exciting delivery 💚

Alison and Alex finally got to open the first prototype of our Founding Flame Lamp, one of the limited physical rewards planned for the Emerald Blood: The Calling at Tara Kickstarter.

We decided to record our first reaction and ended up chatting about Mac Uaid Enterprises, MUE Games, Emerald Blood, the Kickstarter, and how the lamp came together.

A massive thank you to ForeverLit for creating it for us. We had seen the designs and progress photos, but seeing the finished lamp illuminated in person was completely different.

And yes, we are definitely keeping it green 😂☘️

Rooted in the wild landscapes of Ireland 🌿

As we shape the world of Emerald Blood: Songs of the Ancients, we are drawing inspiration from the native plants and landscapes found across Ireland.

From vivid heather and ancient hawthorn to golden gorse, bracken and tiny buttercups, each one helps us create a world that feels wild, familiar and unmistakably Irish.

We have included the names of each plant in both Gaeilge and English, because the language belongs to this landscape just as deeply as the flora itself. Swipe through to see the names and pronunciations!

A quick look at the pause menu we are currently building for Emerald Blood.

This is still very early pre-alpha, so our focus is on getting the foundations working properly, including inventory, equipment and quest tracking.

The visual polish will come later. For now, functionality first, prettiness second.

Emerald Blood is an Irish mythology RPG currently being developed by our two-person team at MUE Games.

This short pre-alpha gameplay update shows the current opening flow for The Calling at Tara, from selecting Start on the main menu to Ailbhe arriving at the Hill of Tara and making her way towards the research tent to meet Dr Niamh Byrne.

Emerald Blood is being created by Alex Mac Uaid and Alison McQuade around full-time jobs, family life and raising two young children.

Alison leads the story, quests and creative direction. Alex designs the world and characters, develops the gameplay logic, and implements the story, quest and creative changes that we continually shape together.

This footage is from an early work-in-progress build. Characters, environments, animation, user interface and other content will continue to change as development progresses.

We are currently developing The Calling at Tara as our planned vertical slice, and we are preparing a Kickstarter campaign for September 2026.
