We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Glen Hansard.

For us, this loss feels especially personal. Our Museum Director, Paddy Dunning, has known Glen since the very beginning of his career. The first recordings by The Frames were made at Paddy's Sun Studios in Temple Bar, where Glen's journey as an artist first began to take shape.

Years later, Sun Studios would feature in Once, the film that brought Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová to an international audience and earned them an Academy Award for Falling Slowly. It remains one of the greatest Irish musical success stories ever told.

Today, we remember not only an extraordinary musician, but a beautiful and kind person with many talents. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans around the world.
