Discover your inner self through Creative writing
“Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings”- Wordsworth

This line uttered by the 19th century romantic poet indicates Wordsworth’s belief that creative writing is the innermost and spontaneous expression of the human heart. Although he is referring to poetry the same could be said of fiction too. Many a short story or novel is the expression of the author’s innermost being. John McGahern said that in his novels he was attempting to understand his father and the very troubled relationship he had with him. Flaubert said that the main character in Madame Bovary is a reflection of the author himself. Creative writing has been an excellent medium since the ancient Greeks through which the author, and by way of catharsis the reader or audience, can explore their inner worlds. Stories since time immemorial have been a great way for people to make sense of their lives. Before the advent of science humankind made sense of the world around them through the form of myths (which are essentially stories or narratives used to explain the workings of the world).
Through creative writing you might discover a whole new and exhilarating world that will undoubtedly enhance and enrich your life. In addition seeing your work which you are so proud of appear in your favourite magazine and the knowledge that it is being read by thousands of readers can be, to quote a famous author “a mind blowing” experience.
Its essential for all writers to get that all important feedback and an excellent way to do this is by joining a Creative writing class for its only other writers who know and empathise with what your going through as a writer.
