Featured artist: H.I.P.S.T.E.R. (Historically Informed Performance Series, Teaching, Education, and Research)

H.I.P.S.T.E.R. (Historically Informed Performance Series, Teaching, Education, and Research) presents a new version of BAILE/home by composer and performer Xenia Pestova Bennett. Performed by Yonit Kosovske (harpsichord), Xenia Pestova Bennett (toy piano, electronics) and Malachy Robinson (treble viol), the work combines period instruments, contemporary sounds and recorded voices, including contributions from renowned Irish writer Hugo Hamilton, painter Mairead O’hEocha and others. BAILE/home explores the many meanings of home: as sanctuary, safety and a repository of childhood memories, but also as a place of loss, exile and new beginnings. This new version has been funded through the PRS Foundation Beyond Borders scheme. H.I.P.S.T.E.R. promotes the study and live performance of Early Music, bringing together historical research and contemporary performance aesthetics.
