Our new album, Confluence, will be coming out on Farpoint Recordings this week! Here is a sneak preview of the fabulous album artwork by Jay Roche and Anthony Kelly. The album features two renowned guest artists, Martin Johnson on cello and Mark Redmond on uilleann pipes, performing all new gamelan compositions by Irish composers Peter Moran, David Bremner, Abigail Smith and Cathy Purcell. In 2014, we were privileged to receive the wonderful gift of a full Gamelan from the Sultan of Yogyakarta. Gamelans of such distinguished and auspicious origins usually receive a blessing and name when they leave their maker’s workshop.

Just one week left until our TWO nights of gamelan music back-to-back in the National Concert Hall. Monday 12th June at 7pm, the NCH Gamelan Orchestra will perform a full evening concert of traditional and modern music for gamelan instruments. And on Tuesday 13th, the students of our evening classes will perform a free short concert showcasing their work. Book for both events here:

This fascinating instrument from Indonesia consists of a variety of gongs, bells, xylophone-type sections, and produces a wonderfully magical sound.

The NCH Gamelan Orchestra will be performing our first live concert in the NCH since the summer before lockdown. We are thrilled to be back! Full concert takes place on Monday 12th June at 7pm.
