Due to an unavoidable venue issue, tonight’s 18:45 performance of 's SUPLEX will no longer go ahead. ⁠

All ticket holders for tonight have now been contacted directly by our Box Office team. ⁠

The good news is that the rest of the SUPLEX run is going ahead at Dublin Municipal Theatre - Smock Alley, Black Box, and we’ve added an extra performance on Thursday 10 September at 18:45.⁠

This week in Smock Alley

The Catalpalyst celebrates the 150th anniversary of the 1876 Catalpa whaleship rescue of six Irish prisoners from Fremantle. It comes to Smock Alley 30 years after Donal O’Kelly’s much-travelled show Catalpa won a Fringe First award in Edinburgh.

Together, the Gaiety School of Acting and Dublin Municipal Theatre at Smock Alley are deeply saddened by the death of Patrick Sutton.

Patrick shaped both of our organisations in profound and lasting ways. For more than thirty years, he gave so much of himself to actor training, to Irish theatre and to generations of artists. He led the Gaiety School of Acting from 1993 to 2024, and was the driving force behind the restoration and reopening of Smock Alley Theatre.

But for all the scale of what he achieved, those of us who knew Patrick will remember the person too: the conversations, the encouragement, the disagreements, the laughter, the ideas, and the fierce belief he had in theatre and in the people who make it.

Across both GSA and Smock Alley, Patrick’s presence is everywhere. We are enormously grateful for all he gave to us, and we will miss him very deeply.

Our love and thoughts are with Mo, Rebeccah, Sam, and all Patrick’s family, friends and loved ones.

Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann.
