Franco-Irish Literary Festival The 22nd edition of the Franco-Irish Literary Festival “TABOO” will take place from April 8th to Now a significant date in Dublin’s annual literary calendar The Franco-Irish Literary Festival, held in Dublin, is preparing for its 22nd edition and continuing the tradition that led to Dublin’s nomination as a UNESCO City of Literature.

The Festival’s aim is to broaden and enhance the long-standing friendship that exists between Ireland, France and other French-speaking countries of the world. It helps to enrich our knowledge of our respective literatures and writers through various events organised around the main theme. This year's events will take place in Dublin Castle and Alliance Française Dublin on 8-10 April 2022, with roundtables, readings, interviews, book fairs and a literary cabaret!

Vanessa Springora (France)

Vanessa is a French publisher, writer and film director. In January 2020, she published "Le Consentement", a personal story which recounts how, when she was fourteen years old, an author who was 36 years her senior, exercised control over her. The book was awarded the prix Jean-Jacques Rousseau de l’autobiographie and the Grand prix des Lectrices de "ELLE" and generated an international media coverage. It is has been translated in 30 countries.

Anne Serre (France)

Anne is the author of fifteen books: novels, short stories and fiction. From "Les Gouvernantes", 1992 to "Un Chapeau léopard", 2008, "Les Débutants", 2011, or "Petite table, sois mise !" 2012. She uses in turns a male or a female narrator alternately, investigating love, friendship, desire, insanity, family and the writer's mystery, with a clear language that is often tinged with irony. "Au Cœur d’un été tout en or", 2020, was awarded the Prix Goncourt de la Nouvelle. Her work has been published in the United States, England, Spain and Germany.

Rita is lecturer in postcolonial and global literatures at Maynooth University. Among various other publications, she is the author of "Monumental Space in the Post-Imperial Novel: An Interdisciplinary Study" and of "Anticipating the 2011 Arab Uprisings: Revolutionary Literatures and Political Geographies", co-editor of "The Ethics of Representation in Literature, Art and Journalism: Transnational Responses to the Siege of Beirut" and co-director/ co-producer of the RCUK-funded documentary on Beirut, "White Flags". Rita researches and serves on public engagement initiatives and funded research projects focused on forced displacement.

Kevin Power is the author of two novels, "Bad Day in Blackrock", 2008 and "White City", 2021. He won the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature in 2009. His writing has appeared in The New Yorker, The Guardian, Irish Times, The Dublin Review, The Stinging Fly, and many other places. He teaches in the School of English, Trinity College Dublin.
