Saint Bride or Saint Bridget celebrating her name day and the first official day of Spring in Ireland 🇮🇪 and the daffodils 🌼 have just popped out. This photo is from the National Gallery of Scotland 🏴 and one of my favourite pieces to show people. Saint Bridget patron saint of County Kildare in Ireland. 🇮🇪 There is a lot to take out of this piece especially for Irish and Scottish people. It shows her being carried across from Ireland over the Hebridean Seas passed Iona Abbey famous for maybe where the famous Book of Kells was written by Saint Columba to Bethlehem. John Duncan the artist does a beautiful job capturing paganism being intertwined with Christianity. The detail is incredible.
