The David Fragments

The David Fragments See Brecht as you've never seen him before. He's got a big mouth. What happens when artists, texts, and histories collide is the story of The David Fragments.

The David Fragments
after Bertolt Brecht

the English-language premiere of Brecht’s David scenes
translated & directed by Nicholas Johnson
adapted for the stage by David Shepherd and the David ensemble

Before the plays that made him famous, the young Bertolt Brecht tried to write David, a biblical play which would have no point, no idea... and quite possibly no audience. But in the autumn of 19

20, he wasn’t the only young playwright in Munich obsessed with David, and Bathsheba wasn't the only woman on Brecht's mind. Samuel Beckett Theatre, 28 June – 1 July 2017
7:30 PM nightly, Saturday matinee at 3:00 PM
Tickets €15 / Concession €10

Translated and performed by kind permission of the Estate of Bertolt Brecht and Suhrkamp Verlag. Supported by the Society for Old Testament Study, Trinity Association and Trust, and the Provost's Fund for the Visual and Performing Arts. It's gonna be biblical.
