Aaron Mahon is playing the part of Space Corps podcaster and super fan Jeb Dutt in FANATICAL

Aaron Mahon (Jeb Dutt) is a performer based in Dublin. Always admiring people who could make others laugh, he wanted to become someone who could entertain others. So naturally he was drawn to theatre.

While mostly involved in Dublin’s improv scene, hosting and performing at shows, he is no stranger to traditional theatre, like his involvement with last year’s production of ‘Life Expectancy’ directed by Ron West & Catherine Butterfield.

He is extremely excited to be a part of the production of the world premiere of ‘FANATICAL’ and will bring his signature high energy and enthusiasm to the show.

Meet Dave McGowan performing the role of the Commissioner in FANATICAL.

A long time ago and moderately far away, Dave used to run around the playground with his arms extended pretending to be an x-wing pilot.

Since then he’s performed in a number of shows for No Drama Theatre - Night At The Invasion (2009) , Wanted One Body (2010), Harvey (2015), Kate Krackernuts (2019) and Stage Fright (2024).

He’s delighted to have the opportunity to perform in yet another No Drama production and work with such a fun script and lovely group of actors and crew! “I’ve got a good feeling about this.”

This week's workshop will be facilitated by the multi talented, Peter Hussey.

Peter will introduce some of the activities that they do in Crooked House Theatre Company. The activities are designed to create an atmosphere where we make mistakes, become comfortable with confusion, and explore possibilities for acting and devising. The activities promote a way of working that is about getting out of your head, avoiding over-thinking, and making it a bit easier to ‘commit’ to an action and activity on stage without letting self-consciousness get in your way. The way the workshop will work will be using movement-based activities (and not sitting around a table so much), discussion, and creating short scenarios.

This workshop serves as an introduction to the Certificate in Directing for Theatre that is run by Maynooth University. The certificate runs every second Saturday from September to May. Enquires to [email protected]

Peter Hussey
Peter Hussey is Artistic Director of Crooked House Theatre Company in Newbridge which he founded in 1993. He established Kildare Youth Theatre in 1996. He is a writer, director, lecturer, researcher, and drama facilitator. He lectures in youth theatre, embodied learning, Theatre of the Oppressed, applied theatre, and theatre directing with Maynooth University in Ireland.

He directs and trains young actors in Irish and international universities (in Drama Studio, London; the National Drama School, Athens; Suleyman Demirel University, Turkey). Directing includes work by Shakespeare, site-specific work, and contemporary writers in English.

See you on Tuesday, in Bunscoil Sancta Maria, Synge St. Doors 6:45pm, workshop starts at 7pm! 12€ drop-in fee / 30€ per month (both cash and contactless accepted). If it’s your first workshop, it’s on us!

FANATICAL is a hilarious dark comedy with loads of laughs, dark doings, thrills and a few moments you will not see coming!

Two die-hard fans, Gina and Stanley, take extreme measures to stop the ruin of their beloved Space Corps movie franchise by kidnapping its creator, Bruce Glover. However their plan unravels into unintended chaos with unexpected consequences...

It’s set in a world where Comic Con meets Hollywood and the ‘burbs. It’s about obsession, fandom and the extremes people will go to preserve that world and version of reality. Once art goes out into the world, who owns it? The artist or the fans?

No Drama Theatre is proud to stage this brand new play written by Tom Hoefner, a New York based playwright, and directed by Jacqueline Carroll in the Boys School, Smock Alley Theatre.

It’s the first time FANATICAL has ever been on stage worldwide and we’re really excited for people to see it. All going well, Tom Hoefner plans to travel to Dublin from NYC for the premiere!

Come and see this extremely talented and hilarious cast from Tues 30/6 to Sat 04/7 nightly at 8pm and a matinée performance on Sat 4th at 3pm.
