Our exhibition opened last Friday night at Ireland House, Tokyo @アイルランド大使館 - Embassy of Ireland, Japan and what a wonderful opening it was! The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming from start to finish.
The evening began with speeches by Ambassador Damien Cole, organiser Stephen Lawlor, and Bon Koizumi, the great-grandson of Lafcadio Hearn / Koizumi Yakumo, followed by beautiful music from Charles Marshall on the Satsuma Biwa and Tríona Marshall on the Irish Harp.
It was such a joy to catch up with so many artists and friends who have been part of this exhibition’s journey. A huge thank you to the Embassy staff for all their hard work, to Aisling Braiden for her invaluable help, to Ambassador Cole for his support since the tour began in 2023, and to Bon and Shoko Koizumi for their continued friendship and guidance.
To all our amazing partners and supporters who travelled from across Japan - we truly wouldn’t be here without you. To Robert, Misaki and all the team at KURA MONZEN Gallery for their beautiful exhibition hang and expertise. To Neil O Connor for Yōkai - the sound installation composed in the style of Japanese ambient electronic music. And to the artists - it was wonderful to see so many of you there. Thank you, thank you!
Come visit the exhibition and join a short tour at Ireland House Tokyo - tickets are booking very fast!
