David Byrne is a genius. That's all. That's the review. Anything that I have to say has already been said. This man can do no wrong. Having missed his previous tour, I knew I couldn't miss this one. Shame on you, whoever missed this, the stageshow of all stageshows. The set was chock-full of Byrne's solo material, a lot of which comes from his newest effort Who Is The Sky?, which is a fun little listen. The new songs definitely come across better in a live setting, such as 'Everybody Laughs', 'What Is The Reason For It?' and the standalone single 'T-Shirt'. David dipped into his back catalogue for tracks such as the Eno collab 'Strange Overtones' (which we all know is a shtone cold banger), the funky 'Like Humans Do' and the weird yet fun 'Everybody's Coming to my House'. The standouts were, obviously, any Talking Heads track. Opening with 'Heaven' is a cheat code to make people cry. I'm the only one who cried? Go away. 'Houses in Motion' got my feet a'movin. 'Life During Wartime' made me want to wear a white shirt and run around the seating area (obligatory Stop Making Sense reference). 'Psycho Killer' had everyone screaming at the top of their lungs, as did 'This Must Be The Place' (Byrne sans lamp, much to my chagrin). Byrne's band were on fire all night (not literally, but I wouldn't put it past him). Best gig ever? Possibly. Ending on 'Burning Down The House'? Classy move. See him in St Anne's Park on June 7th. You won't regret it.
