Our penultimate artist announcment for Culture Night 2026 > Methodactor!🌻🔊▶️
“Methodactor is the solo project of Edward O’Mahony, a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Dublin. His music sits within cinematic, emotionally driven alternative-pop, drawing on artists like Blood Orange, Dijon and James Blake. He writes, arranges, produces, mixes and masters his own work and directs his own music videos.
His debut EP, A Fool’s Errand, was released in 2025, seven tracks moving across pop, alternative rock, hip-hop and electronics, supported by music videos, live shows and airplay across Irish radio. He is currently working on his debut album, a 13-track record spanning R&B, alternative and pop, combining acoustic recording with digital production, built around the experience of working as an artist without guarantees. It will be accompanied by a live performance film and a release campaign opening with a show at Anseo in Dublin on September 24th, followed by singles, further live performance videos, a full-band shows, and festival dates through 2027.
Outside of Methodactor, O’Mahony spent his early years fronting and playing in bands before shifting toward composition and production.
Over the past six years he has built a career as a screen composer, scoring across horror, drama and comedy for award winning short films like ‘Bunker Baby’ which recently aired on RTE. Alongside this, he has worked as a producer and songwriter for other artists, including Leah Rose and Orla Monelle.
He sits on the board of the Screen Composers Guild of Ireland and has an upcoming radio show on Dublin Digital Radio about Film Music.”
