🎊dlr Mill Theatre turns 20 this month! 🎊
May 2026 marks a truly special milestone: 20 wonderful years since the dlr Mill Theatre first opened its doors to the world. As we look at this RTÉ News coverage of President Mary McAleese officially opening our doors,it fills us with such pride and emotion to reflect on the extraordinary journey we have shared.
What began as a bold heartfelt vision, built slowly and carefully brick by brick, has blossomed into a vibrant, beloved home for creativity, community, connection and countless unforgettable performances that have touched so many lives.
From our maiden production of Our Town by Thornton Wilder and premiere of Irvine Welsh’s Babylon Heights, to the wide range of comedy, drama, and showcases that have taken to our stage this month 20 years on, we are incredibly proud of this remarkable journey so far.
This incredible achievement would simply never have been possible without the unwavering belief, generosity, and support of so many people. We owe so much to every one of our board members, past and present, for their guidance, commitment, and passion; to all the local groups who have walked alongside us, bringing energy, ideas, and community spirit to every corner of our building; and to every member of our wonderful Mill team - in all its forms across the years - whose hard work and dedication have kept our stages alive and our doors open. Together, you have turned a dream into a reality that lies at the heart of our community.
From the laying of our very first foundations to the thunderous sound of standing ovations that ring out still today - thank you for being such a vital, cherished part of our story.
It’s an honour to celebrate all we have built and achieved together.
Here’s to another wonderful and exciting 20 years and beyond! 🥂
