It’s in the nature of these short festival runs that you feel like you’re only figuring things out just as they’re ending but on our final day I want to thank, cast, crew and all at Dublin Gay Theatre Festival for their help, hard work and support. It’s hard to find a medium where you can incorporate a billionaire authors mad twitter ramblings one week into a show that’s two weeks from premiering but that’s the fun of a show like ours. We even managed to give a shout out to the Ireland first weirdos in the replies. 80 percent of directing is, in my view, casting, and though we had to cast from the length and breadth of Ireland to find them we couldn’t have found a more talented ensemble, so thanks again to: Michelle Costello (JM) Jemma Curran (UT) Jessica Irwin (DG) Tanja Karita (HG) Sarah Noll (SP) Linda O’Flaherty (BB) Benny Redmond (GQ) Linda Ryan (AK), as well as stage manager Thomas Wall. See you at 4 for the matinee or 9, or in the bar after!

Big thanks to cast and crew and all at Dublin Gay Theatre Festival for a mad day of matinee and evening show. The sound of right wing loons, and encouraging ring of counter protest rang in our ears as we made our way to The Teacher's Club today, and emphasised again why these ghouls who target minorities will never win. They can drape themselves in whatever flag they want but Ireland is multicultural, is richer and more diverse and as this festival shows, more creative for it, and whatever bigoted battle they might win, they lost the war a long time ago.

What makes billionaire authors constantly gripe about imaginary conspiracies against them and all womankind? What makes former sitcom writers and now extremely divorced twitter addicts reflexively abuse anybody who doesn’t agree with them? What makes politicians and public figures rant scornfully about biology and turn the airwaves into a repetitively surreal discussion of cervixes and large gametes and the minutia of genitalia in an effort to desperately distract from austerity, war, homelessness or inequality? Answers to all these questions and more can be found in “GC…AF!” a satirical skewering of the Gender Critical movement, as part of the Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, May 6th-11th, in The Teacher’s Club Main Hall, 36 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1. Tickets and more info here:

‘GC…AF’ is a scathing satire of the so-called Gender Critical movement, involving a calamitous zoom call (live on stage), 8 brittle egos, surreal logical leaps and the reductive thinking of a group of the most deranged culture war fanatics. The arguments are bang up to date with writer, Garret...

See two great shows for free. Part of the fun of the festival is you get to experience such a variety of shows and often on the same night in the same venue. Lewd and Lascivious acts set during the rise of N**i Germany, sounds like a fascinating show and is on in the same venue before our show. More info on the competition below.
