The Liberties Festival The Liberties Festival is one of Ireland’s oldest festivals.

From modest beginnings in 1970 it has grown to become a highlight of the summer with a series of family-friendly and community events, and an exciting multi-cultural and arts programme.

Please click on the link for further information. It is crucial to read this before making a submission.

💡 Got a idea itch you need to scratch which would be suioted to the Liberties and respond/engage with its communities, history & heritage?

Are you looking at Arts Grants and Bursary Awards which being programmed in the festival could assist with? Please get in touch.

Also, as a community festival, working off limited budgets we are not in a posiiton to commission international work. Submissions will not be considered.

⚡ Our scoring criteria is equally weighted between:

Concept (quality, innovation)
Relevance (community, accessibility)
Feasibility & Delivery capacity (cost, experience, space/location)
Gut Feeling (fit with other ideas/direction, excitement levels)

Areas such as arts & disability, arts & young people, arts & older people, arts & minorities and sustainability are of significant interest.

⏰ The deadline for submissions is Wednesday November 4th and we will hold an info session on the week of October 19th.

Here is our Ramble route for tomorrow morning with 𝑬𝑫𝑾𝑰𝑵𝑨 𝑮𝑼𝑪𝑲𝑰𝑨𝑵 and the Stray Sod Céilí band.

Rambling, also referred to as Céilí-ing, Raking, and Bothántaíocht, is the rural tradition of house calling or visiting neighbours that was the custom for many generations in Ireland; sharing tea, chat, music, stories, songs, news, and playing cards.

Our merry band of strawboys will ramble to a selection of homes and gardens within the Liberties in their woven costumes, for music, dance, and mischief.

This is in association with Seán Corcoran Series and before our Bilberry Ball in the afternoon in Michael Mallin Park.

Our free traditional arts strand at the festival starts on Wednesday Tailors Hall with musicians Paddy Glackin Paddy Glackin and Peter Browne Peter Browne ‘in conversation’, exploring the life, work, and legacy of the iconic Breandán Breathnach (1912-1985); uilleann piper, collector, writer, publisher and Liberties native.

As former career-long presenters and producers at RTÉ, Paddy and Peter will also respond to a selection of clips of Breathnach at his most astute, insightful, and entertaining.
