The 1st Global Assamese Convention concluded on a historic and inspiring note, marking a proud milestone for the global Assamese community. Over the course of the convention, voices from across the world came together to celebrate our shared language, culture, heritage, and collective aspirations.

The convention witnessed meaningful discussions, cultural exchanges, and visionary ideas focused on preserving Assamese identity while embracing global perspectives. It strengthened bonds among Assamese people living across continents and reaffirmed our commitment to unity, inclusivity, and cultural pride.

With active participation from scholars, artists, professionals, youth, and community leaders, the convention successfully created a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and future initiatives. The energy, enthusiasm, and sense of belonging felt throughout the event will continue to inspire efforts to promote Assamese language and culture worldwide.

As the curtains fall on this landmark gathering, the spirit of the 1st Global Assamese Convention lives on guiding us toward stronger global connections and a vibrant future for the Assamese community.

Assam and the broader North East India region continue to emerge as powerful engines of growth, showcasing tremendous potential across sectors.

On 25 November 2025, the Embassy of India, Dublin (India in Ireland) hosted a hybrid event under its Commercial Outreach initiative titled “8 Jewels of North-Eastern India.”

The session featured insightful remarks by Ambassador H.E. Akhilesh Mishra, followed by detailed presentations from Mr. Niraj Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Government of India, and Ms. Kime Bune from Invest India. Their perspectives shed light on the region’s strategic opportunities, investment landscape, and emerging sectors.

The event saw participation from distinguished leaders, including:

Mr. Stephen Curran, Director, Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment

Mr. Hubert Murphy, CEO, Drogheda & District Chamber

Assam Association of Ireland in the year 2022 initiated a petition requesting the establishment of a Visa Centre in Assam, and today we are delighted to see that vision turning into reality.

We sincerely appreciate the Assam State leadership and extend our heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for his support and decisive action in making this possible.

Soon this will be history for our people from Assam and the North East. Happy to share that VFS Global has agreed in principle to set up a dedicated visa facilitation centre for over 60+ countries in Guwahati.
