Lorcan Vallely’s work for Between the Notes is inspired by Belfast hosting the All-Ireland Fleadh, Belfast TradFest and Féile an Phobail within the space of just a few weeks.

When Lorcan thinks of traditional music festivals, he pictures musicians of all ages gathering in streets, squares and corners, not simply to busk, but for the sheer enjoyment of making music together.

His new work seeks to capture these spontaneous moments: the natural light, the energy of the gathering and the shared sense of occasion created when people come together through music.

See Lorcan’s new collection as part of Between the Notes, alongside work by Barry Kerr and Liam O’Neill at Gormleys, 471 Lisburn Road, Belfast

Exhibition continues until Saturday 22 August.
