Continuing our summer sessions, we have two more fantastic guest teachers in August that you won’t want to miss.
On 15th August, we have Ron West delivering his masterclass in improv, helping improvisers become experts in staying in the moment.
And on Sat 29th and Sun 30th August, Lindsay Mullan will be teaching how to play more charming and loveable characters on stage, even if you’re the villian.
Swipe to find out more about each workshop. Links to both workshop in bio.
**Masterclass with Ron West**
Ron’s workshop will help encourage improvisers to become experts in staying in the moment, being physical, and making one’s partners look good. Exercises will be dedicated to developing listening and making smart sustainable choices which is especially important in long form.
Residual benefits to improvisers is they will be more confident actors and enjoy exploring and heightening in fun and funny scenes. Time permitting, we’ll see if we can recognise the salvable scene and turn it into a repeatable sketch.
This workshop is open to improvisers with stage experience.
Date: Saturday 15th August
Time: 12pm to 4pm.
Cost: €70
**Charm Offensive with Lindsay Mullan**
Second City Toronto Alum, Lindsay Mullan, invite you to dig deep and explore the nuances of character through short form improvisation with CHARM OFFENSIVE.
This workshop aims to assist improvisors in becoming more charming & lovable on stage - even when playing the villain! Examine the parts of yourself that you may have deemed “wrong” or “bad” and find the levity hidden underneath.
Bring a sense of play to seemingly unpleasant characters and taboo subject matters. Step outside of your own perspective to see the world through your character’s eyes. Through a series of scenes/ exercises we will draw out our silly and serious impulses to give humanity and humour to the varied characters we create.
You will learn about: Hidden objectives, emotional body parts, attitudes & tactics, misbehaviour, character informed by physicality, subtlety, truth in comedy, boring the audience (on purpose), status, mantras, and much more.
Date: Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August
Time: 11pm to 4pm both days
