The Improv Playground The Playground is an Improv collective based in Dublin. We also stage improv productions.

We run weekly drop-in workshops provide a space for improvisers of all levels, from absolute beginners to veterans to play and meet other like-minded people.

We’re back after the May bank holiday with a new workshop titled ‘Can I take your order?’

One of the type of scenes we’re told to avoid are transaction scenes. A scene with strangers trying to buy or sell something can leave players stuck and unsure where to go.

This workshop will look at ways to make them interesting and how to find your way back if/when you find yourself in one.

Our workshops are accessible to everyone meaning anyone with zero improv experience can pop in and take part. Join us at the Teachers Club on Monday 11th May from 7pm to 9pm.

Workshop costs €12 with option for €30 membership for calendar month.

As it’s a bank holiday weekend, there is no workshop happening on Monday 4th May.

This Saturday’s After Hours is going to be a great one as we have special guest, the wonderful Anděl Sudik, visiting Dublin.

Catch her and friends performing as well as a class showcase taught by her, where performers will practice being an ensemble with the energy of a solo performance. What will that look like? Only one way to find out.

After St Patricks’ day, we’re back again with another workshop and this time, we’ve the fantastic Craig Addison facilitating with ‘Bouffon Openings’

As Craig describes it: “The mischief of the bouffons will inspire this group/movement themed workshop. We’ll explore how you can ‘yes and’ with more than just your words and entertain from the moment you’re on stage.”

Find us at the Teachers Club on Monday 23rd March from 7pm to 9pm. Whether you’re experienced, never tried out improv before or fall somewhere in-between, everyone is welcome.

A couple of days later and we’re still thinking about how enjoyable a night our first-ever Assembly was.

We put together four once-off groups for the night and they all gave it socks. Thanks to everyone who performed on the night, our lovely audience who gave loads of cheers and support, and to all those who got up on stage for the first time. After a wonderful Assembly last night, we’re back again our regular schedule. We’ve another 3 great acts playing on Saturday 21st March and it’s only €8 (ticket link in bio)

They are:

**Milking The Air**
Established during COVID, we grew together digitally and have been doing improv ever since. We do long-form improv. In our newest configuration, we are 4 improvisers, the core of what makes Milking the Air… milk? ;)

**Blank Cop, Blank Cop**
Blank Cop, Blank Cop are Dublin’s premiere Buddy-Cop-movie-themed improv group featuring all lads with names derived from the name Mīkhāʼēl. They are Michael Shannon, Michael Sullivan, and, Mícheál Ó Fearraigh!

**Bound By Insurance**
Bound By Insurance explores the little things and the big things that bond people together. Whether it’s sharing a Netflix account, a taxi home, or going big and buying a house, it expands on the meaning behind these choices.

All the more reason to check out After Hours on Saturday 14th where we have Assembly happening. Playgrounders are put into once-off groups, each given a mini-challenge to complete on the night.
