🎨 Oil painting. Slow drying. Fast friendships.
That was my experience teaching the Oil Painting Evening Classes at St. Mary’s College.
From the first squeeze of paint to the final varnish-ready stroke, every session was a joy. As an instructor, I watched students go from nervous “I’ve never touched oil paint” to confidently mixing colors like old masters. The studio smelled like linseed oil and ambition – and honestly? We had so much fun.
🖼️ The results?
Over the course, students created more than 25 beautiful oil paintings all together– rich portraits, moody still lifes, expressive landscapes. Some were bold enough to hold theirs up for photos (see the collage! 👉). Others were a little too shy to pop into photographs – and that’s OK too. Their art spoke for itself, and I made sure they knew how proud I was of every single brushstroke.
This wasn’t just a class. It was a small creative family.
A huge thank you to St. Mary’s College for hosting such a warm, supportive space for evening learners, and to every student who showed up, made a mess, and created something beautiful.
