Aerowaves Aerowaves is a cross-border dance performance network, offering opportunities to younger artists working in Europe.

Aerowaves is co-funded by the Creative Europe’s Platform Programme for the promotion of emerging artists of the European Union Commission. Aerowaves is a European dance network for research and cross-border presentation started in 1996. Today Aerowaves is represented by 40 Partners and Associate Presenters in 34 different European countries, who all meet together in October to select the works for the following year from around 500 open applications.

We asked former to reflect on their Aerowaves journey, how it influenced their artistic path, and what they hope for the future of the network.

Markéta Stránská was selected in 2020 with "FLY!", a work exploring physical limitation, presence and resilience. In 2026 she returned to Aerowaves with "Scáling", created with Charlie Morrissey: a duet investigating balance, instability and the negotiation of shared space. Her practice often focuses on sensitivity, vulnerability and the intelligence of the moving body.

Over 30 years, Aerowaves has supported emerging artists who are at the vanguard of dance thinking and moving. Visit our ‘Ripples’ site (link in bio) to discover how a ripple becomes a wave.

La Briqueterie CDCN du Val-de-Marne's festival "Excentriques" returns with its sixth edition, from September 24th to October 9th. Under the title "danses mortelles!", this year’s programme welcomes choreographies playing with illusion and artistic risk, inventing funeral rituals and survival dances, reviving forbidden practices and summoning epidemics of explosive or liberating trance.
This edition features Inka Romaní, Solène Wachter, Charlie Khalil Prince and Fábio Krayze Januário.

Thank you to all the dancers based in Ireland who have applied to join the Artistic Exchange Ireland/Québec in partnership with Dance Limerick, part of the project in collaboration with La danse sur les routes du Québec.
-> Applicants will be notified of their outcome between the week of 31 August to 4 September.

We asked former to share their experience, how Aerowaves shaped their trajectory, and what they wish for the future of the network.

Marco da Silva Ferreira was selected twice by Aerowaves: first in 2015 with "Hu(r)mano", and again in 2018 with "Brother". His work explores clubbing cultures, collective physicality and the transmission of embodied knowledge, often drawing from urban dance. His pieces have toured widely across Europe, establishing him as one of Portugal’s most distinctive choreographic voices.
