A little bit of downtime today ahead of the Youth Day tomorrow in St Matthew’s Parish, Jaro. We visited San Juanico Bridgest, the longest bridge in the Philippines. It’s one of the Philippine’s most famous landmarks as it connects the islands of Leyte and Samar. It’s 2.16km long! 🇵🇭

A few days ago, Aontas payed a visit to PREDA’s young girls’ home. PREDA provides a safe, nurturing environment for girls who have experienced abuse, exploitation, neglect, or other incredibly difficult circumstances. It is a place where they are given the opportunity to heal, continue their education, rediscover confidence, and simply be children again. We’re so grateful to have witnessed the incredible work PREDA does and to meet such brave young girls. Thank you to everyone who has supported this journey—your generosity helps make visits like this, and the work behind them, possible. 💛

Today, we paid a wonderful visit to Sacatihan Elementary School where we were blessed to have been able to meet and interact with the Philippines’ indigenous tribe, Aeta. Recently, they have been fighting to protect these lands and frequently face environmental and economic challenges. PREDA Foundation supports Aeta with resources and education, as well as helping conserve their community and traditions. Thank you for allowing us to witness PREDA’s incredible efforts and the spirit of Aeta’s wonderful community

Today we had the privilege of visiting PREDA Foundation’s rehabilitation centre for young boys and learning about their journeys.

PREDA shared with us how they rescue and care for boys who have come into conflict with the law, as well as those who have experienced neglect and abuse. Hearing their stories, yet seeing the genuine smiles on their faces, was a powerful reminder that hope, compassion, and the right support can transform lives 💛

Aontas Choir would like to invite all parishioners to a special Mass of thanksgiving with Bishop Paul Dempsey this Sunday, 5th July in St Mary’s Church, Lucan at 7pm. The Mass is being offered for the parishioners of our parishes as well as those who supported us with our fundraising efforts. Your generosity and support will enable us to go on our volunteering mission to the Philippines this summer. The Mass will be followed by refreshments in the parish centre. We hope to see you all there. 😊🙏

As we close the chapter on 2025, we’re grateful for the memories and opportunities for growth.
