Dear Parents.

I hope you've all had a very good Christmas. All of us at The Little Duke wish you a Happy New Year's celebration this week.

Our classes will begin again next week on the 8th of January. The coming term, The Winter and Spring Term, will be twelve weeks long and we'll close for the Easter break on the 28th of March. Please see the attached Fee Note for the term.

Our Exam results came in just before Christmas and students did every bit as well as we expected! We don't have the manpower to send results via email, however, a couple of us will be at the school tomorrow and Friday from 12 to 3pm - if anyone can't wait for results until next week!

I'm sure you've heard by now that our Big Show for next year is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! It's a wonderful show, timeless and endearing. We'll begin rehearsals in classes next week and it will be performed at Droichead Arts Centre during the week 18th to 24th of May.

Wishing you All the Best for 2026!

Brenda.

Dear Friends of The Little Duke: We've recently had to move out of our previous costume storage space and are now putting out a call for space for hire for a large volume of theatre costumes (boxes and rails) in Drogheda. Any thoughts, or leads or ideas, please message us... It would be a huge help! Many thanks in advance for your kind assistance. Brenda & Little Duke Team

Friday June 6th to Sunday June 8th

The Adventures of Pinocchio was written by Carlo Collodi in Italy in 1883. In so many ways, the story is as relevant now as it was then. It's the story of a boy's need to be accepted and understood by those around him. The fact that Pinocchio is a boy made of wood might be seen as a metaphor for anything that can separate us from others and make children especially feel isolated and alone. Although, the story of Pinocchio falls into the genre of Fairy Tales, it doesn't promote unrealistic expectations and ideals. Pinocchio's final realisation is that he doesn't want to live in a fantasy world, he wants to live in the real world.

Hallelujah! Drogheda will be blessed by senior students from The Little Duke Theatre presenting their โ€œdivineโ€ production of Sister Act JR. The musical tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a high-spirited aspiring singer, who witnesses a murder and is forced to enter the Queen of Angels convent under witness protection.
Based on the hit film of the same name, Sister Act JR features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, a book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner, and additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane. The show opened on the West End in 2009, and a revised adaptation opened on Broadway in 2011 which received multiple Tony nominations, including โ€œBest Musical.โ€

Though Deloris Van Cartier is forced into the convent under witness protection, she quickly finds her place in the womenโ€™s choir. While Deloris does not share the faith and modesty of her fellow nuns, her newfound community of sisters offers her friendship and fellowship, and, in turn, Deloris teaches each woman how to raise her voice in beautiful praise. The choirโ€™s new sound proves a big draw, attracting new worshippers at church services, sorely-needed donations, and community attention.

Sister Act JR. is presented through special arrangement with and all authorized materials are supplied by Music Theatre International 423 West 55th Street, New York, NY 10019, 212-541-4684, mtishows.com.

Dear Parents,

As I'm sure you know, we won't have classes this week or next week at the Little Duke. We'll begin classes again on Thursday the 1st of May and end the term on June the 14th.

However, our teenagers continue to rehearse Sister Act Jr during the Easter break as they'll be in performance with the show at Droichead Arts Centre on the 8th, 9th and 10th of May. We'd love you all to come and bring the family. Tickets are available online or by phone from Droichead Arts Centre. The students have been just incredible in rehearsals and it's looking like being a great show!

Our Stage 1 and Stage 2 students will have their show, Pinocchio, at Droichead Arts Centre on the 6th, 7th and 8th of June. Parents should have received my email about students' performance times and day. Please let me know if you have not.

Attached see our Fee Note for the coming Summer Term. The term is just seven weeks long so the cost is only half of last term's fee!

We hope you have a lovely Easter and that the sun keeps shining!

All the best,
Brenda and the Team...
