Upstate Theatre Project is a community-engaged performing arts organisation adhering to collective and collaborative approaches in keeping with principles of cultural democracy. Through their work, Upstate advocates for social change and challenging audience's pre-conceptions of who can shape the world around us. Upstate Theatre Project is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland. Recent projects

Join artists Farah Elle and Caroline Moreau for a creative workshop exploring voice, song, and wellbeing in a supportive, welcoming environment.

These sessions are designed as a safe and inclusive space for women of all cultures and backgrounds to come together, connect through song, and explore their creativity. Through gentle vocal exercises, shared singing, and creative expression, participants are invited to engage with music as a tool for both artistic exploration and personal wellbeing.

No singing experience is needed – all abilities are welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, and open to anyone curious about using their voice in a creative way.

Free to attend. No booking required – just come along.

The , a celebration of DIY publishing and counterculture collaboratively run by Rita Hynes and thirtythree.45 in association with Droichead Arts Centre returns Sat 24 Jan 2026.

The annual zine fair is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of traditional publishing, building DIY community connections and highlighting underground and punk zinemaking practices.

People are welcome you to browse stalls from nearly 50 zinemakers with an accompanying events programme, taking place across three venues in Drogheda town including Droichead, The Kiosk Project Art Space and The Watchtower venue at McHughs. Thanks to additional support from Louth County Council, our zine fair remains completely free for all attendees and participants.

Join us for a special zine launch and afterparty!

Drogheda Zine Fair in collaboration with Upstate Theatre and Séamus Nolan celebrate a new 10th anniversary zine edition of Subvert All Power: Drogheda's Punk Rock History.

Meet and mingle with fellow zinemakers at The Watchtower venue in McHughs Pub! Festivities will include a reading by local experimental performance poet Patrick Dillon and a late-night guerrilla screening of Drogheda gig films by The Factory Roof.

Copies of Subvert All Power: Drogheda's Punk Rock History will be for sale on the night for €5 each and all proceeds will be donated to SOSAD Drogheda.
