Tredagh Singers perform “El Grillo" (published around 1505) a Renaissance song composed by Josquin des Prez, at Cantate Catalunya 2026, Barcelona.
El Grillo, or the Cricket, is praised as a great singer who can hold long, steady notes ("tiene longo verso") and has great consistency. Unlike fickle birds who fly away after singing a short tune, the cricket stays firmly in place ("sta pur saldo") even through the scorching heat ("quando la maggior el caldo").The cricket sings purely for the love of it ("canta sol per amore"). Tredagh Singers past and present wish to offer our deepest sympathies to our much loved Musical Director Geraldine Dogget on the loss of her dear son David. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. Funeral mass at 11am on Wednesday at the Augustinian, Drogheda, at which the Tredagh Singers will join the Augustinian Church Choir as part of the ceremonies.

‘Round the room’ with Let the River Run - a technique our musical director Geraldine Doggett uses to get us to sing alongside someone different, and really listen to each other, to get the harmonies blending! We are on the build-up to Barcelona next weekend, when we get to sing at the Sagrada Família, ‘s legendary We can’t wait, and you should wait for the sopranos hitting the high A at the end 🥰 🎼🎶 Enjoy!

Not long now till the Tredagh Singers and friends head off to Barcelona to take part in a music festival in the famous Sagrada Familia cathedral. What an honour! 🎶🎼

Tredagh Singers Chair Vincent Moore was delighted to present a cheque for €4,400 to the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre, the proceeds of our summer concert. Ann Finnegan and Susanne Kelly from the centre accepted the cheque which will support the important work the centre does for those living with cancer and their families in the North East region Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre

Tredagh Singers committee and members always appreciate so much the use of the Augustinian Church in Drogheda for our concerts, the beautiful surroundings and acoustics the perfect setting for our music. We donate a percentage of the takings from our concerts to help maintain and support the beautiful old church, and look forward to continuing our great relationship with the “Auggies”.
