Here are some additional glimpses from our most recent ceramics course, where we focused on building a bust through proportion, shape, form, dimensions, and expression. At this stage, the busts began to show more defined characteristics and features—drawing inspiration from various sources, including attempts to recreate a relative.

As a prelude to those well-deserved summer holidays, we dived into a seascape and water pond project. 🏝One of the highlights was crafting a lighthouse on an island or a bird on a pond. 🐦It was exciting to create pieces that successfully showcased the creativity, exploring different textures and the playful interaction of clay and glaze! 🥳

This spring term consisted of 10 weeks, plus an optional 5-week extension. The class was aimed at beginners, but it was great to see some familiar faces returning to take the course again. The course focused on giving beginners the opportunity to try a variety of projects so they could practice and experience the process of clay hand-building. This included the interpretation of a subject or idea, basic modeling practices and techniques, forming, attachment, glazing, etc. In this case, quantity favors quality to achieve quality as a result of practice. The course also provided returning students the chance to explore some of their ideas and create a couple of new projects. It's always interesting to see how creativity is expressed differently, resulting in some beautiful artwork!
