A commissioned piece I really enjoyed creating for a client in Donegal inspired by him and his love for his motorcycle and the Donegal hills before getting really sick from DRESS syndrome caused by the antibiotics to treat a infection that went sepsis as a result of post-op complication of internal bleeding. Photographed before the final touches and before it was framed for them.

Throwback to the only way to store these large drawings was to build a large enough shelf over the stairs 🙈

There’s nothing like a new sketchbook. 🎨 👩🏻‍🎨

I recently, have been slowly getting back into sketching with a wee but of watercolour paints. Not taking on any big projects to work on right now with how my body is feeling.

It’s hard to balance life, health, and creativity, but I do find it healing to work on what your going through and been through whether it’s abstract or line work as tool to process and a power to express. It’s about looking after the mind and body.

I don’t know if any of this will reach a canvas, but it’s becoming a visual diary to understand my body more. I haven’t spent much time….since I was diagnosed with sepsis or DRESS syndrome ( severe drug reaction with eosinophil systemic system) 2024 and everything that’s happened afterwards, as I have been trying to just be ok.

I’m not back to myself, but not holding my breath as much with still a lot of uncertainty.

I’ve always appreciated moments like this, as time to slowly understand myself on a deeper level. Who knows what else might appear in this space.

A Very Happy New Year to you all!!!

2025 was a tough year following the second half of 2024.
Since May 2024, I’ve spent roughly 140days admitted in hospital not including A&E visits and consultant appointments since a post-op complication turned into internal bleeding, sepsis and then DRESS syndrome. It’s been a non-linear journey with lots of complications. Life being turned upside down. Trying to find patience in a chaotic system and finding strength through it all, while holding onto hope and redirection.

I am recently home after being back in hospital during the festive holidays with a big bacterial infection that actually had to reported legally to the Heath Protection Surveillance Centre (CDC). No idea how I got it, but glad to no longer be in an isolation room in hospital. Still don’t feel great after this blip you can say. But, repeat bloods on Monday to make sure things continue to trend down and have to keep an eye out for any signs of sepsis. Echocardiogram on Saturday.

As my journey continues and more patience is discovered as I relearn to live in this season of life. I wanted to thank all of you who have supported me in every small way. I truly appreciate it and you!

Wishing you all a Happy New Year. And, as I find my footing, sharing and creating more with you. 🤍
