This summer, St Anne's Shandon embarks on one of its most significant programmes of conservation and heritage work in recent years β and we need your help to make it happen.
Thanks to the generous support of Cork City Council, the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, and the Heritage Council, we have secured over β¬180,000 in grant funding for 2026. But these grants don't cover the full cost β every award requires matching funds from the parish. That's why the support of visitors, donors, and our community matters so much.
Works beginning this summer include:
π Bell tower waterproofing β protecting the home of the famous Shandon Bells from water ingress
πͺ Front steps repair β ensuring safe and welcoming access for all who visit
πͺ Window conservation β caring for the historic windows of the nave
βΏ Accessibility feasibility study β taking the first steps towards improving access to the church
π Green Coat School conservation study β beginning the long work of caring for a remarkable piece of Shandon's social history
Works are being overseen by James Burke Architects, with Hearthstone Building & Restoration carrying out the physical work on site.
