"The little room with the big heart" has been busy hosting some of the best National & International artists throughout the last few years . In 2013 Coughlans was named 'Best Venue In Ireland' at the IMRO venue awards and also picked up a special commendation award from Hot Press Magazine. In 2014 Hotpress named Coughlans as 'Venue Of The Year' and 2016 saw the venue win once again at the IMRO awa

rd's scooping ' Best Venue In Munster'. The award winning venue focus's simply on a great live experience for both the gig goers and artists that pass through it doors. Some artists who have recently performed include Glen Hansard | Lisa Hannigan | Rusangano Family | Walking On Cars | Sarah Jarosz | Mick Flannery | Willie Watson | Chris Smither | Hermitage Green | Wallis Bird | Interference | The Strypes | Lisa O' Neill | Booka Brass | Corey Harris | Louis Stewart | Chuck Prophet | Jack O' Rourke | The Delines | Simone Felice | I Draw Slow | Johnny Borell (Razorlight) | Wyvern Lingo | Jimmy McCarthy | Jerry Fish | Joan Shelly | Duke Special | The Hot Sprockets | Kris Drever | Anais Mitchell | Tír na nÓg | Delorentos | Aoife O ' Donovan | FRED | O Emperor | Declan Sinnott & so many, many more

This small intimate venue is be available to musicians to put on concerts/gigs in an effort to promote both new and already established acts from the city and further a field. As many of Cork's smaller venues have unfortunately had to close their doors, we want to recreate a 'listening room' and perhaps (dare we say it!) even bring back some of the magic from the days of places like 'The Lobby'! We want this space to be a platform for upcoming acts to showcase their material without the huge costs of hiring a venue and also a place for more established acts to come and play in a small setting, to an appreciative audience, knowing their requirements will be met to the best of our ability. It is essential to us that every performer and audience member leaves 'Coughlan's Live' wanting to come back for more. The venue has a capacity of 60 people seated (approx 80 standing). Special care has been taken to ensure an enjoyable experience for both the audience and the listener. Quality of sound, a comfortable performance space and most importantly 'the personal touch' are some of the things we have really concentrated on.

Absolutely gutted to hear this news. We could try to describe what a wonderful lady Elmarie was but our words just wouldn’t do her justice.
Our deepest sympathies to Conor, her family and all that new and loved her, of whom there are many. Codladh Sámh Elmarie xx

Here at Cork's 96FM we are devastated to hear about the passing of Elmarie Mawe.

As the long-time presenter of The Arts House here on Cork's 96FM, she spent almost 3 decades spotlighting and supporting Cork’s vibrant cultural scene.

A PPI & IMRO Radio Award winner and a primary school teacher, Elmarie was a defining voice of Sunday morning radio, bringing local theatre, literature, and music into thousands of homes across the city and county.

Loyal listeners, Cork performers and those in the radio and entertainment industry will remember her warmth and resilience, her beautiful voice and great sense of humour, which all cement her status as one of Cork radio's most beloved figures.

Just Announced + On Sale Now
Paddy Dennehy Guinness Cork Jazz Festival. Friday Oct 23rd.
After taking a little over a year away from music Paddy Dennehy and his band will be returning to Coughlan's on Friday the 23rd of October.

“To say that I have missed writing and performing would be something of an understatement. It has been like a constant itch or a sore tooth that demanded further attention. And as is usually the way with such ailments, I am dreadfully sorry that I waited this long to attend to it!”

Work has already begun on a third album which will be released in 2027 and many of these songs will get their first airing outside of a studio in Coughlan's on the night.

Paddy is no stranger to the Irish music scene having shared a stage with many of his childhood idols such as Mick Flannery, Lisa Hannigan, Glen Hansard and Imelda May and performed across Ireland over the years. He has been called a “rare talent” by Rolling Stone France and Hot Press Magazine called his first album “a captivating, gut wrenching showcase of how powerful folk music can be.”

Sunday 27th Sept. Tickets

Hailing from rural Donegal, George Houston is a genre-bending singer-songwriter praised for his poetic, cinematic sound and deeply personal themes. Since debuting in 2020, Houston has released four albums, toured with Paul Weller, and The Divine Comedy, received acclaim from BBC Radio One, RTÉ Radio One, and played Later… with Jools Holland, and The Tommy Tiernan Show. His work explores grief, queerness, and resilience, wrapped in lush harmonies and gothic-folk aesthetics.

Curtisy’s ascent feels like the natural next chapter in Ireland’s ongoing cultural purple patch. Since his breakout collaboration with Kojaque just two years ago, the Dublin rapper has become one of the most compelling new voices in a scene unafraid to blur lines between art, fashion, and community. His trajectory has been swift but deliberate: an RTE Choice Prize nomination for his debut album ‘What Was The Question’, a BBC Radio 1Xtra debut with CassKid, a widely-circulated Dazed profile that labelled him “one of the best rappers to ever come out of Ireland,” and a growing catalogue that doubles as a personal diary — candid, witty, self-deprecating, and bracingly honest.

His music lives in the cracks between sharp humour and quiet melancholy, drawing comparisons to Earl Sweatshirt and MIKE but refusing to lose its Irish vernacular. Each track reads less like a performance and more like a conversation overheard, rooted in the working-class surroundings that shaped him. It’s this voice — unfiltered, unpretentious, and emotionally transparent — that has turned Curtisy into a crucial documentarian of contemporary Irish life, the type of rapper who can capture both hopelessness and the flicker of light that cuts through it.

Live, he’s everywhere: from a lauded UK and Ireland tour to cult Irish fashion label Pellador’s runway show, from a storming set at Electric Picnic to opening for New York rap luminary Wiki in Dublin. Alongside those appearances, collaborations have stretched his palette further — a future-facing link-up with hyper-pop outlier Sloucho, and the collaborative mixtape Beauty In The Beast with producer hikii, a record that sought out hope in the most unlikely places. Endorsements from Maverick Sabre and NTS’s DJ Bempah only underscore what’s already clear: Curtisy stands among a wave of Irish artists breaking internationally, a generation that includes Fontaines D.C., Rejjie Snow, Kneecap, Gemma Dunleavy, and Kojaque, all pushing against the weight of circumstance to carve out their own space on the world stage.
