Cork International Choral Festival

Cork International Choral Festival Bringing a city to life with song since 1954! We look forward to having you with us!

As one of Europe's premier choral festivals, Cork is noted for its world-class Gala performances and its high competitive standard. Each year some of the finest amateur international choirs are selected to compete for the prestigious Fleischmann International Trophy. As well as foreign choirs, the festival annually features up to 100 Adult, Youth and School choirs who participate in national compe

titions. Cork is noted for the friendliness of its welcome, and while competition may take center stage, the five festival days are very much based around celebrating and spreading the vibrancy of choral and vocal music. Visiting and competing choirs take every opportunity to entertain audiences through our engaging and lively fringe festival of concerts and performances set in diverse venues across the city and county. This coming spring, the Cork International Choral Festival will continue to bring the tradition, culture and vibrancy of choral music to the people of Cork and the many visitors who travel to share this wonderful event with us each year.

The 2026 International Choral Conducting Course came to a close at the 71st Cork International Choral Festival with a workshop featuring Chamber Choir Ireland, led by outstanding tutors Jennifer Moir and Jani Sivén.

Participants had the opportunity to apply their conducting skills while working directly with Ireland's flagship vocal ensemble, receiving valuable feedback from both tutors and singers. The course created a space for discussion, reflection, and exchange, allowing conductors to learn from one another and share experiences throughout the process.

Stay tuned for the announcement of the 2027 Conducting Course in the coming months.

Some may recognise these words from "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran. Others may know them through the musical adaptation from the 80s by Sweet Honey in the Rock.

At the 71st Cork International Choral Festival, Black Voices delivered a powerful and deeply moving performance of this beautiful song. Sit back and enjoy this extract from their gala concert 🎶

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.

A look back at this year’s outstanding Gala Concert by the festival's choir-in-residence, Chamber Choir Ireland, conducted by Gabriel Crouch.

Titled "Servant of Servants, Patron of the Arts", the programme journeyed from Palestrina to contemporary composers, and included the premiere performance of the winning work of the Seán Ó Riada Composition Competition.

A truly unforgettable evening 🎶

A look back at the competition for Mixed Voice Post Primary School Choirs 🎶

It may have been a rainy day in Cork, but the voices lit up the stage at Cork City Hall! Congratulations again to all the incredible choirs who took part, and a special well done to St. Patrick’s Cathedral Grammar School Choir, Dublin, and their conductor Judith Lyons on achieving 1st place 🏆👏
