John Leech was a celebrated Victorian illustrator whose iconic artwork brought A Christmas Carol to life in its first edition in 1843.
Known for his sharp eye for detail and emotional depth, Leech created eight illustrations for Dickens’ novella, including four hand-colored plates. His depictions, such as the hauntingly vivid Ghost of Christmas Present and the chilling scene of Ignorance and Want, perfectly captured the spirit of Dickens’ tale.
