No other dance venue in the country can offer this combined facility. The building was erected as part of the Butter Market in mid 1850s. A major refurbishment in the 1980s adapted the space for use by dance professionals, audiences, and e

nthusiasts who wish to participate in dance of all kinds. We host a wide variety of dance classes and workshops as well as presenting our own Dance Cork Firkin Crane Presents programme of contemporary dance. The casual visitor can also drop in and see parts of the historic building as well as experiencing the lively energy of dance through interactive exhibitions in our Dance Interactive exhibition space.

Our dance season continues next month with a playful, unsettling and often revealing performance from Company Philip Connaughton for Croi Glan Integrated Dance.

The Act of Existing is a provocative new dance work that explores what happens when two artists willingly surrender to an audience’s will.

Featuring performances by Bobbi Byrne and Ben Sullivan, The Act of Existing invites audiences into a live encounter where influence is never straightforward and responsibility is never neutral.

Great feature in last week's Irish Examiner on Cork city dance artist in residence Luke Murphy.

Luke is movement director for the upcoming production Pool (No Water) written by Mark Ravenhill and directed by Des Kennedy being presented by The Everyman as part of Cork Midsummer Festival.

Growing up at at the top of Patrick's Hill was good preparation for Luke Murphy's career in the dance world, writes Marjorie Brennan
