Hard to believe it's already been nearly two full weeks since CorkOnAForkFest was in St Peters.

With so many special events over the weekend it is hard to capture it all! L’Atitude presents ‘SUPRA’ - a shared table dinner, created by Georgian chefs from Poliphonia Restaurant, Tbilisi in collaboration with .

A ‘Supra’ (სუფრა) is a choreographed ritual of hospitality that binds food, wine and storytelling into a single shared experience.

St Peters will be hosting two free, open to all lectures as part of our Heritage open day programme, read on for more information

11:00 - "Irish Genealogy Basics" with David Ryan
Irish research has a reputation for being difficult. It can also be a bit overwhelming starting out. From DNA tests to census records and everything in between, what is the best place to start? This talk will examine some of the basics of Irish genealogy and offer you tips on making the best start in your research.

13:00 - "Order, Counterorder and Disorder: The Cork Brigade of Irish Volunteers and the 1916 Rising" with Gerry White
The 1916 Rising lasted from 24 April to 29 April and fighting was pretty much confined to Dublin. Though it was one of the largest and best led units in the Irish Volunteer organisation, the Cork Brigade failed to take part in the Rising. This presentation examines to factors that led to this failure and the impact that the aftermath of the Rising had in Cork.

Brought to you alongside the National Archives of Ireland and Cork City and County Archives Service, this incredible display features original census returns, local photographs, and visual displays from the first census of an independent Ireland.

Take a wander and discover what life was like in 1920s Cork:

🗺️ 365,658 – The total population of Cork at the time.

🧒 28.3% – percentage of the population made up of children under 15.

🥃 220 of 913 – The number of Irish Free State distilling workers who were based right here in Cork.

🧑‍🌾 25% – The proportion of local farmworkers who worked on a farm of 100 acres or more.

St Peters is welcoming back Cork Craft and Design for the member showcase exhibition "Crafting Legacy". On display this August

Cork Craft Month returns this August with its biggest programme yet, featuring over 90 workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions and markets designed to connect the public directly with the county's vibrant craft community. From a two-day porcelain workshop with artist Sarah Roberts in Nohoval to a Willow Weaving Workshop with Cois Laoi Willow in Greywood Arts, the programme highlights the extraordinary breadth of creative talent across Cork. A third of the programming is free, and a full schedule is now available to view at corkcraftanddesign.ie.
