Coming up in Triskel Cinema this week, we begin with screening the comedy-drama anthology Father Mother Sister Brother, which follows three estranged family relationships divided into chapters set in New Jersey, Dublin and Paris.
Set in 1930s French Algeria, The Stranger is a modern take on Albert Camus's existential classic novel. It follows Meursault, a Frenchman who moves through life and love mysterious with detachment. When he stands accused of murder, indifference is his only alibi.
As part of the East Asia Film Festival Ireland (EAFFI), we are delighted to be screening the Franco-Japanese drama, Yakushima's Illusion. A French transplant coordinator working is sent to Japan, where organ donation remains taboo. She meets a free-spirited photographer in Yakushima's ancient forest, only for him to vanish, leaving her to wonder if he is dead or one of Japan's 'Johatsu'- people who disappear overnight without a trace.
Lastly, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its release, Triskel Cinema will be screening Stand By Me, the iconic coming-of-age film full of heart and suspense based on Stephen King's novella The Body.
