We thought we’d caused enough damage in Paris to last a lifetime, but we reserved some for the Museum of Literature in Dublin to mark the centenary of the publication of Ulysses by James Joyce. Late last year we were invited by Anu Productions to respond to episode 8, Lestrygonians, and in August we threw a dinner (some of it literally) which completely misinterpreted the chapter, in food, sound and visual detritus.

On Thursday we recreated a ghost of that evening with an event at MoLI… Here are a few images for you. The remains are still there.

Anyone who would like a full explanation of the menu please send a stamped addressed envelope to the shrine in Ballinspittle.

It’s the end of the evening in the Centre Culturel Irlandais and it would take a very long time to explain what this was, but it was edible, yet underneath the outward appearance of a pastoral alpine scene there was nothing but an existential cry for help… with squid ink. It is now travelling through the intestines of Parisians, probably quite quickly.

Would you believe it? It’s been over two and a half years since The Domestic Godless last terrorised gastronomy in the public sphere. Consequently there have been no posts on IG recently. But that is about to change… Tonight we make our first tentative steps again, brushing off the cobwebs (which have gone into the cassoulet), and performing for a small but intense gathering at a secret location in the city of Cork, as we celebrate Chapter 8 of James Joyce’s Ulysses in it’s centenary year.

What better to cleanse the palate, than our own artisanally-crafted methylated spirit gargle?

Expect more to come dear people…

Three places still available...!!!

As part of The Guesthouse Projects programme of residencies The Domestic Godless present the first in a series of workshops, events and demonstrations.
Kitchen Abyss: Abuse-Bouches
Call them what you will – canapés, hors-d’oeuvres, amuse-bouches,– the opening course of any successful dinner party will demand the presentation of delightful little bites designed to ignite the palates of your guests. But what do you do when the supermarket shelves become bereft of luxuries and your only larder is the neighbourhood swamp? Or worse still, what do you do when your know-it-all dinner-party guests are fatigued by your cooking?
Don’t be dissuaded! Time to get creative…
With a selection of highly unusual ingredients and unorthodox combinations, amaze, bewilder and terrify your guests. This workshop will guide participants to create their own selection of weird and delicious post-apocalyptic amuse-bouches. Participants will also, at the end of the day, be able to invite a guest to join us to sit and sample the results.
Note: preparation of these dishes will include meat, fish and dairy products and quite possibly some things that may potentially affect allergy sufferers.
Places will be limited to 6 people and available from Eventbrite at €60 per person (which includes the invitation of one guest at the end of the day).
When: Saturday 2nd March 11.00 to 18.00 (Invited guests from 18.00 to 20.00).
Where: The Guesthouse, 10 Chapel Street, Shandon, Cork.
Tickets available here: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/the-domestic-godless-kitchen-abyssan-introductory-guide-to-abuse-bouches-tickets-56740724033?fbclid=IwAR262x2Nk8JyS_XTBvH9NHwZrN7GsfsRtOFdkGt6mw-pDJ-o0AKC_EhXafs
