Cantate , formed in Monkstown, Cork, in 2006, is a small and vibrant group of mixed voices. The choir's musical director is Méadhbh Campbell. Cantate's repertoire caters for all tastes including choral, sacred, rock n’ roll, songs from musicals and contemporary classics. Previous choir collaborations include performances with renowned sopranos Cara O’Sullivan and Majella Cullagh among others. Cant

ate performs at local and charity events and in various choral festival competitions. Successes include wins in the Lynch Perpetual trophy, Féile an tSamhraidh and 1st placed Mixed Voice Choir at the AIMS Choral Festival in 2018. Cantate travelled to Amsterdam in 2019 and later that year, staged a concert in St. Lukes with Koor rooK, a dutch choir that they met in Amsterdam. In 2020 during lock-down, Cantate created a virtual video with Koor rooK of an Irish Blessing which was widely viewed on YouTube. Cantate also participated in the International Choral Competition in Derry, Northern Ireland in 2023. Cantate is looking forward to a busy schedule of events for 2025 and beyond.

What a truly special afternoon we shared last Saturday March 28th 2026 💛✨🎶

Celebrating 20 years of Cantate in the beautiful setting of Nano Nagle Place was something we will always cherish 🕊️💫 The atmosphere, the music, and the connection in that space made it an unforgettable experience for all of us 💖

A heartfelt thank you to Nano Nagle Place for hosting us so beautifully and supporting the arts in such a meaningful way 🌟🙏

We were also honoured to share the stage with the wonderful Umpqua Singers from Community College Oregon, USA 🎵✨ your voices and energy brought something truly magical to the concert 💕

And to our dear friends, families, and everyone who came to support us… thank you 💛 Your presence, your smiles, and your applause mean more than words can express 🙌✨

We are thrilled by Elaine Kelly´s recent Grammy nomination. It was a privilege to have her serve as our Musical Director at Cantate for seven years, and we are immensely proud of her achievements as an internationally recognized Irish conductor.

She is featured in the photo alongside Grammy Award-winning R&B musician Cian Ducrot, from Cork.

It is hard to believe Christmas was a month ago, despite that we’re still so thrilled to share the success of our Christmas Choral Concert held on December 20th, 2024. Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended and supported us, we raised an amazing €700 for the wonderful team at Shine Centre, a charity dedicated to supporting families with autistic children.

Ken Murphy, one of our Committee members, had the honor of delivering the donation in person and shared this heartfelt message with us afterwards:
"A very humbling experience visiting Shine Centre. Beautiful 3-5 year old autistic kids in a happy space. Thanks to all for your support."

We also want to extend our thanks to Shine Ireland in Carrigaline, for the thoughtful framed photo they gifted us and for their kind post on their page. Your recognition means so much!
