In preparation…

So much hard work from the crew goes into this production, more than we’ll be able to highlight. From sound to set to costume, the crew works tirelessly to bring this story into being.

There are 10 days separating us from opening our doors to the audience and you best believe each minute of that time is hard working.

Thank you to our wonderful crew that works non stop:

As part of Cork Midsummer Festival actor and playwright, Irene Kelleher, will perform Footnote in the Cork Theatre Collective Studio at Triskel Arts Centre on June 14th, 16th & 17th, performing twice on June 16th and 17th, and opening on June 13th, she will perform Stitch in J.Nolan Stationary at 21, Shandon Street. She will perform two shows a day, every day of the festival, and on 14th June she is performing THREE shows in one day - Footnote at 1pm and Stitch at 9pm and a special Midnight show.

Written and performed by Irene, Footnote is directed by comedian and presenter Laura O’Mahony. With a decade of real life bookshop experience between them, they bring their hilarious insider knowledge to the stage – because truth, as always, is stranger than fiction. This laugh out loud, one woman comedy is a love letter to bookshops, book lovers, and anyone who’s ever had to smile through a ridiculous customer request. Designed by Cormac O’Connor, production manager is Michael Anthony Green.

Stitch is set on Shandon Street in 1989 and in this site specific production in J.Nolan Stationary at 21, Shandon Street, the audience will be dragged deep in to a world where the past lingers and the walls whisper. For those who dare, Stitch promises an unforgettable theatrical experience. Stitch is brought to life by the acclaimed team behind Gone Full Havisham: written and performed by Irene Kelleher, directed by Regina Crowley, sound and lighting by Cormac O’Connor, set design by Jenny White, costume design by Valentina Gambardella, Make Up Design by Maeve Readman and production manager is Michael Anthony Green

Our final ‘meet the creatives’ it’s time to meet our wonderful director - Killian Collins

Killian first met Irene Kelleher in 2003 when they both featured in Trevor Ryan’s production of Our Day Out at the CAT Club (then upstairs). Since then, they have collaborated many times including ‘Tis Pity She’s A W***e in 2011 and the 2014 production of The Turn of the Screw at Smock Alley, Dublin and the Everyman, Cork. He is delighted to now direct the premiere of one of Irene’s original plays and to return to the CAT Club for the first time in several years.
Killian has worked as an actor, director and production manager on over 60 productions of plays, musicals, pantomimes and concerts at venues including Cork Opera House, Everyman, Olympia, Dublin, Theatre Royal Waterford, INEC Killarney, Old Red Lion, London and Esplanade Singapore. Some acting and directing highlights include The Outgoing Tide, This Lime Tree Bower, Jesus Hopped the ‘A’ Train, The Collector, Michael Collins, The ‘ALL STAR’ Wars, One for the Road, Caught in the Net, All My Sons, Takin’ Over the Asylum, The Music Man and Hot Mikado.
Killian is the theatre manager at the Dean Crowe Theatre and Arts Centre, Athlone.

We are thrilled to have Killian directing Mighty Oak’s very first production ‘The Misfit Mythology’ 🌙🍁🌘

Continuing our meet the creatives it’s time to meet the fabulous Malua Ní Chléirigh - our Sound Op on this production.

Malua is currently in her final year in the Cork School of Music, studying Drama and Theatre. She began in acting in the Dungarvan Junior Musical Stageschool and her recent credits include "Marullus" in Cork Shakespearean's production of Julius Caesar (2017), "Production Assistant" in The Young Offenders Christmas Special (2018), Emma Bovary in the third year BATDS performance of Madame Bovary, and Young Woman in a Cork School of Music production of Machinal by Sophie Treadwell. Malua has recently worked on Irene Kelleher's Gone Full Havisham as an AV assistant for the Cork Midsummer Festival. She will soon be performing in an upcoming Cork School of Music production of Earthquakes in London by Mike Bartlett, directed by Regina Crowley.

We are thrilled to have Malua on board who is a JOY to be around and extremely professional 🙏🏻♥️
