Barrence Whitfield is a full-throttle soul screamer in the spirit of Little Richard, Wilson Pickett, and Solomon Burke. He has been described as the owner of one incredible pair of lungs, with limitless energy and unmatched enthusiasm for his music and his audience. Whitfield is a performer so consumed with satisfying his audiences that he has been called 'crazed, frenetic and completely unhinged'.

Barrence Whitfield & The Savages shot out of Boston in the mid-‘80s with the force of a cannonball. Through their sweaty dance party shows and love of primal soul, they were to R&B what the Cramps were to rockabilly--a gateway musical drug for nascent underground roots mavens (including a wide-eyed, dewy-eared future Bloodshot Record co-founder Rob Miller). Along with original Savage Peter Greenberg (The Lyres, DMZ) and Phil Lenker, they released several records and became a favorite of BBC DJ Andy Kershaw. They also toured with the likes of Bo Diddley, Tina Turner, and George Thorogood, and won seven Boston Music Awards. They reunited in 2011 with new Savages Andy Jody on drums, and Tom Quartulli on sax. Perhaps the world is ready for them this time around.

Barrence Whitfield & The Savages recent album "Dig Thy Savage Soul" is a wealth of atomic-powered, sock it to me R&B and rock & roll hoodoo. Together, Barrence & the Savages lay down a groovy racket that’s so thick and greasy, you need moist towelettes near the hi-fi.

ZZZ’s are an all girls post punk/experimental trio from Japan that reach back to the no wave scene of the late 1970’s/early 1980’s. It’s not a rudimentary primitivist barrage but a selective collection of tactics involving repetition, dissonance and propulsion. Each of their songs revolved around its own particular handful of ideas: riffs (shared or colliding), textures (strumming, feedback, tremolo or harmonics plucked on guitar and bass), vocal tones (talking, singing, screaming and whispering), repetitions and sudden change. The songs, which had terse lyrics in English bristled every way they could figure out. The beats touched on the late-70’s staples of punk, funk, disco and dub reggae, while the instrumental tones could be thinly focused or brutally distorted. ZZZ’s are testing concepts in every song; luckily, they were also kicking up an unstoppable ruckus.

Recorded in Brooklyn with Jonathan Kreinik (Le Tigre, !!!, The Rapture), their current EP release "Magnetica" finds the ZZZ’s tackling the songwriting and arrangements from right out of leftfield, with funk-punk noise, gothic backing wails and minimal instrumental moments.

Part man part wheel, Delaney Davidson is part wandering minstrel, part travelling salesman. One hand holds a small brown suitcase; his trade, his ghost orchestra, the other holds his guitar. One foot firmly in the Blues Trash corner of the ring, the other on the road. All territories are up for grabs. Ireland, Germany, Italy, Brazil, UK, Switzerland, Mexico, Austria, Romania, Belgium, Holland, Russia, France, USA, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand, all destinations on the ten year Solo Tour with which Davidson has turned homelessness into a success of its own. Man of a thousand faces, his work with paint, music, film and concept all has traces of his unique take on life. Part new world and part old world, this duality is echoed in the flavours he evokes with his work. He has shared the bills with underground Queen Holly Golightly, Deep Purple, Cult legend Reverend Beatman, Radical Film-maker Miron Zownir, German Intellectual Franz Dobler, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Jack Oblivian, Bob Log III , Dr Quintron, T Model Ford, The Sadies, Gogol Bo****lo and Gomez.

Mark Mulcahy is the former singer of Miracle Legion, an American rock band of the late 80s, early 90s who were signed to Rough Trade Records. Following the demise of the band, Mark's solo career began with "Fathering", an album that received universal praise.

From there followed albums "Smilesunset" and "In Pursuit Of Your Happiness", several tours of the UK and Europe, countless radio sessions and huge critical acclaim for both his songwriting prowess and his remarkable voice. In 2008, he put everything on hold to look after his children following the tragic death of his wife. To assist him through these troubled times many of his long-time fans in the music industry banded together to record an album of his songs as a tribute to his wife and the result was 2009's "Ciao My Shining Star", featuring the likes of Michael Stipe, Thom Yorke, Frank Black, Mercury Rev, Dinosaur Jr and The National.

Fire Records were proud to announce the signing of celebrated American singer-songwriter Mark Mulcahy for his eagerly anticipated forthcoming album, entitled "Dear Mark J Mulcahy I Love You" in 2013. Recorded with Henning Ohlenbusch in Northampton, Massachusetts, the album was mixed by Grammy-winning producer Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, The Pixies, Hole, Morphine, Uncle Tupelo, Warren Zevon and Dinosaur Jr). The record was mastered by Mark’s longtime collaborator Myles Mangino. The album is 11 new songs and features a host of amazing musicians from the incredible Northampton music scene.

Viking Moses, AKA Brendon Massei, achieves a special balance of warmth and command, with familiar melodies that draw listeners in and oblige them to stay. Strongly lyrical songs are played out through tunes that flirt with pop, folk, indie, grunge and americana, all strung together with a unique pulsing guitar, and by Massei’s robust voice, which ebbs from delicate whispers to throaty howls.

20 years and counting, Massei has won over fans and critics not only with the delicate melodies of his songs, but also through his versatility as a performer — his live show is as compelling in a living room as it is in a major venue, and his songs as natural in a movie soundtrack as on a record player. The lore of Massei’s outsider lifestyle has won him interest and praise.

2013 saw the release of "Werewolves Across America", a feature-length documentary by directors D.A.R.Y.L. (directors of "Katy Perry: Part Of Me") about Massei’s life and lifestyle as a touring musician. Massei’s music also features on UK feature film "Kelly & Victor" (2012) and documentary film "The Legend Of Masty Huba" (2011).

Slide guitarist & songwriter Dave Arcari’s alt.blues sounds owe as much to trash country, punk and rockabilly as they do pre-war Delta blues and have been showcased via eight internationally-acclaimed solo releases. With more than 100 dates a year, Arcari is one of the hardest gigging live artists on the circuit. A series of shows with folks including Steve Earle, Alabama 3, Seasick Steve, Toby Keith and Jon Spencer along with his relentless UK, European and US tour schedule.

His latest album "Whisky In My Blood" was released on Finnish record label Blue North Records in 2013. As well as showcasing Arcari’s trademark National steel guitars, this release features performances on banjo, regular guitar and cigar box which help capture the full breadth of Arcari’s song-writing and performance.
