Sue Nelson Artist I'm a self taught artist and based in the small village of Ballygarvan, Co. Cork on the Wild Atlantic Way.

I currently create original paintings on canvas, these works are Landscapes, Abstract landscapes and Abstracts.

Some of the most meaningful pieces I create begin with a personal story.

'Flowing Light Over Ancient Roots' was originally designed as a birthday gift for my twin sister, inspired by Torc Waterfall in Killarney National Park, a place that holds alot of meaning for her family.

Over many years, they have spent countless hours exploring the landscapes of Kerry, creating memories and connections that have become part of who they are. This artwork reflects those experiences and the powerful relationship between people and place.

As an artist, I've always been fascinated by how landscapes shape our wellbeing, memories and sense of belonging. Whether through nature, heritage or familiar landmarks, places have the ability to ground us, inspire us and connect us to what matters most.

I'm delighted to now launch Flowing Light Over Ancient Roots on my website and share this special piece with a wider audience.

Sometimes the most powerful gift isn't an object, it's a reminder of a place that feels like home 🩵✨🩵.

It's hard to believe it's already time to start thinking about The Holly Bough again! ✨

Being chosen as the 2025 cover artist was a real honour and something I'll always be grateful for. As a Cork artist, becoming part of a publication that has been sharing Cork's stories, traditions and memories since 1897 was incredibly special. The experience was made even more special by working with Mary Corcoran and the wonderful Holly Bough team at the EchoLive, whose passion for preserving this much-loved Cork tradition shines through in every edition.

I still remember the excitement of the cover reveal and the pride of seeing my artwork on the cover of such an iconic Cork Christmas tradition.
If you're a Cork artist who loves this city and the magic of Christmas, I'd really encourage you to apply. It's a wonderful experience and a chance to become part of a remarkable legacy. I can't wait to see this year's cover💫

I’m proud to share this installation of my work at St. Luke’s Home.

I donated 16 pieces inspired by Cork, from city streets to the landscapes of West Cork, with the hope of bringing recognition, conversation, and small moments of joy.

For me, these paintings are about the places we carry with us: familiar streets, coastlines, and landscapes that can bring memories back.

Some of the donated pieces are shown in this carousel, though not all are featured here.

I feel very grateful to have been part of something so meaningful. Thank you St. Luke's for this opportunity

What an amazing night at the Network Ireland Cork Businesswoman of the Year Awards ✨

Helping to organise this year’s awards alongside Diane Higgins and Dr. Siobhán Lucey was such an honour, and I’m so grateful to have been part of such a special celebration of women in business across Cork.

Huge congratulations to all of our incredible winners — you are all so deserving and inspirational. 💫💫 Mary Crilly, Founder of the TheSexual Violence Centre (President’s Award), Dawn Holton (Dawn Hotlon Home & Properties), Wendy O’Driscoll (Mitchelsfort Contracting) , Laura Howard (Trinny London), Ciara O’Connell (SolarHill Energy) , Nadine Hughes Campbell (Noah's Adventures), Ciara Crossan (Wedding Dates Ltd.), Louise Kane Buckley (Loula Natural) and Najla Ahmadyar.

A massive thank you to our fantastic Network Cork committee, Conor and all the staff at The Kingsley, MSL Cork Mercedes-Benz, and the wonderful St. Columba’s School Choir who brought such joy and energy to the evening.

A special thank you as well to everyone who donated and supported our raffle in aid of the Children’s Health Foundation. The generosity on the night was incredible and helped raise significant funds for a truly important cause ❤️
