COBH Cathedral Carillon

COBH Cathedral Carillon The 49-bell Carillon of St Colman's Cathedral in Cobh is the largest such instrument in Ireland and Britain.

This instrument consists of precisely tuned cast bronze bells played from a console consisting of a keyboard and a pedalboard. Cobh's carillon covers a musical range of four chromatic octaves. The biggest bell, named for St Colman and the largest bell in Ireland, has a weight of 3.6 tons and the total weight of all 49 bells is 26 tons. Regular recitals take place, particularly in the summer months

, presented by Cathedral Carillonneur Adrian Gebruers and leading international performers. There is also an automatic player connected to 14 of the largest bells which plays the chimes and hymn tunes which vary throughout the year.
