It’s amazing how a single painting can unlock a flood of memories.

Looking at Marcella Meagher’s stunning painting of the view over Gas House Bridge in Clonmel, takes me right back to my school days at Loreto.

Such a privilege to hang work on our walls that truly captures the heart of Clonmel. Pop in to view this work and others by the Clonmel Junction Arts Festival Plein Air artists.

Favorite gallery moment: seeing people connect with pieces, slow down and take time to read the stories woven into the work.

"My drawing based practice blends concepts from the worlds of science-fiction and natural history. The detailed ink drawings on handmade lokta paper are part of an attempt to create a new visual folklore deeply embedded in nature but with a science-fiction flavour."

Image 2: "Snail colour fabrication", David Kavanagh, Ink and acrylic on lokta paper, 84 x 67 cm.

"In the 22nd century engineers discovered how to program genetically modified snails to produce wonderful patterns. When they inevitably went feral the result was a type of snail led guerilla campaign of street art in gardens all over the world. It was events put down by the pattern recognition abilities of the song thrush. "

Our beloved Sliabh na mBan, with a heavy heart I try to look beyond the destruction and devestation of the past week, and celebrate the mountain's beauty and presence. And commend the amazing response of the local communities.

A huge thank you to the Tipperary Fire and Rescue, Coillte, Irish Air Corps, Gardaí, the local farmers, the locals and volunteers and everyone involved for their bravery and dedication in tackling the wildfires.

Sharing some of my favourite photos of Sliabh na mBan, a place that means so much, to so many of us. 🤍
