This watercolour landscape is of a road is in the Urris valley to the west of Clonmany village. This area was the last outpost of the Irish language in Inishowen. In the 19th century, the area was an important location for poitín distillation. This road leads to Roxtown. This watercolour captures
Well, I took another Original out of its frame just to see how this painting would look framed up. (My framer Des is away on holidays.)
I think the additions to the foreground have done the trick.

A really rainy day outside, I've decided to start a new painting in An Gailearai, in Ballyliffin.

From my Original Watercolour painting Inishowen Drive, this is my depiction of Autumn in County Donegal, Ireland. Irish country roads have wonderful winter sunlight shining on the russet colours. Every season has it's beauty, autumn is my favourite. Inishowen cottages like this are an integral part of the landscape. I loved using this palette of colour.

Oh I love my ponds! Just down to see how the plant life is coming along. The birds are twittering and the sun is shining, what a great evening.
Here is my work in progress, I have just painted the first layer of watercolour on... Now to have some patience and let it dry 🎨☺️
The yellow on the house is a protective gum called masking fluid, I will remove it when the layer is dry and reveal snow white paper.

The Ulster Society of Women Artists is having its 65th Annual Exhibition and I'm absolutely delighted to have two pieces of my work included. My first time showing in a non virtual exhibition with USWA I'm so looking forward to the opening.
It is taking place in Belfast Gaol from the 2nd 12th August from 10 am - 4pm daily.

Delighted to meet holidaying Americans who were here for a wedding. This view was their favourite and a print will be winging its way back to a sunnier home.

For those of you who have been wondering how the ponds have progressed. (See pic 6 for what the ponds had looked like after the first 6 months.) Now thankfully all of the land that was turned over and dug out by machine has regrassed.
The ponds have lots of life around them. I'm so happy to see ducks, birds and flying insects making this area their home. It is a beautiful peaceful area.

Kildoag Pottery is well represented in An Gailearai in Ballyliffin, their work is contemporary and so beautiful.
This Wonderful Koi Pond Pot is coming to An Gailearai today from Kildoag Pottery.
This is a unique piece, a Thrown lidded vessel with mica infused terra sigillata and etched drawing. This pot was thrown using a mixture of porcelain and Ashraf Hanna clay, the combination ensures the pot will withstand the thermal shock of the Raku firing process. The base of the lid is thrown and the top is hand built. When the pot is leather hard we apply several layers of terra sigillata which has been coloured with mica. When the pot has dried it is burnished to get a glossy surface and when completely dry it is bisque fired to 850°c. After firing, a layer of resist slip and glaze is applied. A design is etched through the glaze and the pot placed in the kiln and Raku fired to 825°c. The pot is lifted from the kiln when it is molten and placed in a reduction bin filled with paper and wood chips. A lid is put on allowing the carbon to be trapped by the clay body. When the pot is removed from the reduction bin a light spray of water is applied and the glaze falls off easily revealing the colourful design.
This is a one off unique piece.
Care of Raku Pottery : Wipe gently with a damp cloth. Due to the low firing process raku ceramics are not shock-resistant or waterproof / frost proof so suitable for indoor decorative use only.

I find my self attracted to lighthouses, this is Shroove Lighthouse. This lighthouse is on the Inishowen Peninsula and has a great beach beside it. Standing guard for seafarers it witnesses lovely sunsets day after day.

Ballyliffin is really quiet today, it is a lovely sunny day pop in if you're around.
