THAT’S A WRAP ON SUMMER 2026

And just like that, another season of watersports in Castlegregory has come to an end.

What a summer it has been! We were incredibly lucky to experience the heat, mild tides and overall lack of easterly winds.

A huge thank you to everyone who ventured out to the Maharee peninsula this season. We couldn’t do what we do without the people who make Splashsports what it is.

The watersports centre at Sandy Bay is now closed for the 2026 season, but it's not all gloom.

Béal Geal Sauna & Coffee remains open at weekends, giving you a reason to come back, slow down, warm up and enjoy the peninsula after the summer crowds have gone.

And for those who want to keep learning and developing their skills on the water, our powerboat school will continue throughout the winter, with course dates for the coming months being confirmed soon.

Thank you for an unforgettable 2026. We’ll see you in Béal Geal this winter — and back on the water in 2027.

Why do we recommend wearing a wetsuit?

A wetsuit does much more than keep you warm! It helps protect your skin from the sun, reduces the risk of abrasions, offers a barrier against jellyfish and other sea critters, and keeps you comfortable so you can spend longer enjoying the water.

For the best protection, we recommend applying a zinc-based, water-resistant sun cream to exposed areas such as your face, neck, hands,feet and top of your ears ! Zinc sunscreen stays on the skin longer in the water and provides excellent protection against harmful UV rays.

What else can make my day in the water easier ?

🐚 Anti Chafe balm can help with the wetsuit rubbing on your neck & thighs.

🐚 SurfEars® earplugs help protect your ears from repeated cold-water exposure and prevent cold water bone growths and ear infections.

🐚 Drink plenty of water - coconut water and electrolytes like G&G wellness can help reduce headaches and fatigue.

🐚 A multi tool such as a can help you on the water dealing with mishaps,with quick tools such as a knife,pliersand screwdriver.

Aquapark & Water Trampoline Availability Update

Due to this week's spring tides, availability for our Aquapark and Water Trampoline will be limited from today until Sunday 19th.

What are spring tides?
Spring tides occur when the sun, moon, and Earth align, creating a larger tidal range than usual. Combined with the current high-pressure weather system, sea levels are lower than predicted at low tide, meaning our inflatables can't operate during some sessions.

Our online booking system always reflects live availability, so if a session is available to book, it's good to go. If you can't see your preferred time, it's unfortunately unavailable due to the tides.

There's still plenty of fun to enjoy at Splashsports! We have:

- 🛶 Kayaks available at low tide
- 🌊 Stand-up paddleboards available at low tide
- 🏄 Boogie boards for hire
- 🥽 Wetsuits available to rent

Level 2 Powerboat Course – Spaces Available Next Week!

Ready to take the helm with confidence?

Our Irish Sailing National Powerboat Certificate (Level 2) is the ideal course for anyone with some previous boating experience who wants to safely skipper a powerboat on inland and coastal waters you're familiar with.

📍 Harbour House B&B,Castlegregory, Co. Kerry
⏱️ Duration: 2 Days (9am–5pm)
💶 Cost: €375 per person

With a maximum 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio, you'll receive plenty of hands-on time covering launch and recovery, high-speed manouvering, mooring, anchoring, navigation, man overboard recovery, weather, the rules of the road and rope work.
