School tour season officially kicked off this week at Splashsports 🩷

We didn't take any photos or videos of our groups this week, that’s because our focus has been exactly where it should be — giving students the assistance they need and keeping everyone safe on the water.our undivided attention !

The sun has been a bit shy to appear this week,but all in all,a fantastic start to the season welcoming schools back to the Maharees.

And of course, we’ve been looking after the teachers too. Keeping them warm with complimentary sessions at Béal Geal Sauna and a well-earned Ponaire coffee.

The countdown is officially on 📆

We’ve been busy behind the scenes getting Splashsports ready for another unforgettable season — sanding, painting, varnishing, sorting our brand new "Sola"wetsuits, putting in moorings and safety boats, plus the big clean-up and maintenance of all our inflatables ahead of school tours and summer opening!

School tour season kicks off Monday, with our official summer season starting Friday 29th May for the June Bank Holiday Weekend @ 11am 🙌

A New Chapter for Splashsports

There are moments in any business where you pause, look back, and realise just how far you’ve come. For us at Splashsports, this past year has been one of those moments. A year of change, growth, and reflection — and ultimately, a year that led us to something we’re incredibly proud to share with you today.

We’re delighted to introduce our new logo and branding.

At first glance, it might seem like just a visual update — a new look, new colours, a refreshed identity. But for us, it represents something much deeper.

Splashsports has been part of Castlegregory and the Maharees for over 35 years. What began as a small, family-run watersports centre grew from a simple idea ,to share a love of the sea with others. Over the years, we’ve welcomed thousands of people through our doors. Families on their summer holidays, school groups discovering the ocean for the first time, locals who grew up on these beaches, and visitors from all over the world.

Over the past few seasons, Splashsports has evolved in ways we never could have fully imagined. While watersports remain a core part of who we are, something new began to grow alongside it.

We started to think differently about what we offer.
Not just activities, but experiences. Not just adrenaline and adventure, but also space to slow down, And most importantly reliability,working with the weather and tides instead of fighting them.

This shift led to the goodbye of the Maharees & Brandon Bay sea safari,to the creation of Béal Geal Sauna and Coffee. It allowed us to open our doors beyond the summer months, to welcome people in all seasons, and to offer something that felt grounded in both wellbeing and community.

Splashsports has always been more than just a business name. It’s a legacy. It’s something that people recognise, remember, and associate with years of experiences on the water.....even though some still know us as Waterworld 😂 but we know what you mean.

We’ve had generations of families come through Splashsports. Like parents who learned to surf now bringing their own children back to the same beach. That kind of connection isn’t something you walk away from.

So while the look has changed, the name remains.

You’ll notice tones that draw from the natural landscape of the Maharees —blues,corals and yellows

This new branding isn’t the end of something, it’s the beginning of a new chapter.

A chapter where we continue to grow, to adapt, and to explore new ways of sharing what makes this place so special,from our family to yours.

We are currently recruiting full-time Assistant Managers and ISA Level 1 Surf Instructors to join our team from the June Bank Holiday weekend through to mid-September. This is a fantastic opportunity to spend the summer working by the sea in one of Ireland’s most scenic coastal locations, as part of a well-established, family-run watersports centre.

𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿
𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙤𝙡𝙚:
•Oversee the day-to-day running of Splashsports
•Support staff and help manage daily operations
•Assist with customer check-in, bookings, and general enquiries
•Ensure activities run safely, smoothly, and on schedule
•Help maintain high standards across the centre
•Support with problem-solving and keeping the team organised during busy periods
•Creating content for Social Media

𝙍𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨:
•Strong communication and leadership skills
•Valid first,aid,garda vetting and safeguarding
•Reliable, organised, and confident in a busy working environment
•Experience in customer service, hospitality, or management preferred
•Experience in the water sports industry is preferred
•Ability to work well as part of a team and take initiative
•Positive attitude and professional approach
•Ability to dig in and help out in all departments with a willingness to learn

𝗜𝗦𝗔 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝟭 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿
𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙤𝙡𝙚:
•Deliver safe, fun, and professional Summer surf camps & surf lessons
•Work with beginners, improvers, children, families, and groups
•Help with the smooth running and maintenance of the surf trailer & equipment
•Working in the trailer,taking bookings,renting equipment and briefing visitors.
•Create a positive experience for all participants on and off the beach
•An advocate for the sea !
•Creating content for social media

𝙍𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨:
•Valid Irish Surfing Association (ISA) Level 1 instructor qualification,Garda Vetting,first aid & safeguarding
•Strong water confidence and good awareness of beach safety
•Experience teaching or instructing preferred
•Comfortable working with children and groups
•Friendly, energetic, and professional manner
•Passion for surfing and sharing the sport with others.

Join the Criú at Béal Geal Coffee & Sauna (Splashsports)

IMMEDIATE START

We’re looking for someone to join the team for an immediate start, working 2 shifts per week.
We’re currently open Saturdays & Sundays, with the opportunity for more hours from June Bank Holiday when we move to 7 days a week.

Shifts will be a mix of morning or afternoon,weekend availability is essential.

This is a multi-tasking role, where you’ll be responsible for both the coffee dock and sauna, working between the two to keep everything running smoothly.

The Role Includes:

•Preparing and serving coffee & teas of all sorts

•Taking orders and handling payments

•Welcoming guests and checking sauna bookings

•Explaining sauna guidelines and ensuring a safe, relaxed environment

•Maintaining cleanliness across both the coffee dock and sauna areas

•Managing session flow while delivering a friendly, high-quality experience

What We’re Looking For:

•A fiendly, reliable and hands on person

•Ability to multitask and stay organised in a busy environment

•Previous experience in hospitality, wellness, outdoor recreation or cafe environment is desirable but not essential.

•Basic understanding of health & safety and hygiene guidelines.

•Physically capable of light manual work (e.g firewood handling,cleaning and lifting,sweeping)

•Confident working outdoors in all weather conditions

•First Aid qualification (or willingness to complete training.

•Full training will be provided
